What Margarette Goodwin doesn't like about Don's Seafood:
The food was unflavorful. I was disappointed that the shrimp were not fully deveined. For the price they should be and the size should be bigger. The shrimp gumbo was muddy and I didn’t see any other than shrimp. No vegetables or anything else. The bar drinks service were good. They’re the only redeeming thing. Not returning. We just came for the OYSTERS? Hostess didn't talk to us because she was on the phone, but she took us to our table. We had a nice server. He filled our drinks. Food was excellent. It has been a few years since our last visit and the food is not disappointed! Recommend Don's Jacked Up Oysters!
This place has a nice location, good service and good food. The place looks well maintained and very pleasant lighting. The immersion between tables is beautiful and helps to improve the experience. The service was effective although not necessarily the best in the area (New Orleans tends to have great service). Seafood and Cajun dishes are amazing. The Catfish Acadiana (pictured here) was amazing. But the other dishes such as pastas and meat suffered something in quality. During a visit, I would recommend getting something marked as a specialty or favorite. These dishes are those that are excellent. Apart from that, this place is a nice dinner and lunch in the area of New Orleans.
Food was excellent! I had the crab-au-grain with the twice baked potato. Wife had the grilled salmon and sweet potato casserole, my son had the Cajun ravioli. We also had the black alligator (make great! and seafood spinach diving. All were excellent. I?d the spinach tip of all the foods listed above. I personally had better spinach dip, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. I personally prefer only my Spinat Dip or Artichoke Dip to contain a sharper cheese taste like adding parmesan cheese with a hint of garlic. How and why 5 stars? At first our waiter was excellent and cordial. He even offered recommendations. Next I read reviews before ordering. So we decided to avoid foods that are numerous bad reviews like the oysters and seafood plated. We travelled and it is our first time in Louisiana and did not want it with bad food experience if avoidable. We're glad we took the Gamble! Finally, we deliberately ordered things that went beyond what was normal for us. Less expectations in finding something new, more to discover and appreciate without massive comparison.
Mr. Austin was an excellent waiter and provided the best service. We tried the Jacked Up Oysters, Catfish Acadian made special (1 with blackened catfish and 1 with fried catfish on the side), and a brownie a la mode. The food is delicious and we made the clean plate club with our entrees. We?ve had better brownie a la modes so we wouldn?t order that again but everything else was yummy! We will be back to try other dishes.
