Had a wonderful leisurely lunch today at the Black Stump. The feed me menu was fabulous and great value for money. We started with 3 appetisers and our favourite salt bush crisps. The Murray cod on sour dough was delicious. This was followed by squid salad, a light and refreshing dish. Pasta was a dish of farfalle with fresh Australian truffles and was a perfect example of fresh ingredients used to their utmost best.... View all feedback.
What Elbert Ullrich doesn't like about The Black Stump:
I was with a few friends going to Setts, we are backpackers and had to pay 10 dollar entry fee. In less than 30 minutes my friend was asked to leave as apparently he was “too intoxicated.” Reality is he had only one drink prior...and was completely sober. When we tried to negotiate with the security guards in which my friend showed no signs of impaired speech or intoxication... we were met with rudeness and they did... View all feedback.
Ingenious eating and vibes, great rucksackfriday, highly recommended for a beautiful meal or a dance! eating is very expensive and large portions
5/5 scratch that 10/10. good mood, great atmosphere and great staff. eating is great and pleasant. always a mood on Fridays and Saturdays. love it
Waited for an hour and a half for 4 meals three steaks and a currie. the employees don't wear masks, although they stand two men on the door, with security stops that said social distancing officers. outside the escaping quite, but it was. disgusting to eat and all around us smoke. When the food arrived, it was terrible and overcooked. medium steak was well done and not the scotch filled we ordered it was half fat, that is roughly paid extra for 4 overpriced and overcooked garnels. the personal is not very present. short dresses and the personal have sunglasses on the head during the work behind the bar. They were nice when I asked about waiting but still terrible. don't go back! the photo makes it look red. it was not

Rude staff and unreasonable
It's the closest thing to a real pub inn Mildura. Great beer garden (under vines), great staff, decent selection of beers at the bar and some nice wines, plus all the usual spirits. But it's the beautiful old building that makes the place, and unlike...many of Mildura's watering holes, the current owners seem to be intent on removing the ugly modern fittings rather than adding them. The food has been very hit and miss, I had some really good meals here when it first opened, but also some of the very worst I've ever had (including a dry, burnt parma with no sides on a wooden board...it was a shockingly bad meal). It's quite expensive food, so the reliability of the food quality is a real let down several members of my family won't eat here again after the last meal we had, but I think the building, the staff and the atmosphere make up for it. I'd go as far as to say I think it's the best place in Mildura for a drink (it even has pool tables).
