Contribute FeedbackBar La Grassa in Minneapolis has received a mix of reviews, with some patrons highly praising the restaurant while others were less impressed. The atmosphere was described as beautiful and the food as amazing by some, with specific dishes like the Gnocchi with cauliflower and orange receiving high marks. However, others reported disappointing experiences, including issues with loud noise levels, cold food, and poor customer service. Despite these mixed reviews, some diners still found the overall meal to be top-notch, with standout pastas such as the Cavatelli w/ Rabbit Sugo and Foie Gras Tortellini receiving high praise. Ultimately, the restaurant seems to offer a unique dining experience with both positive and negative aspects to consider.
Food was all around amazing- the pasta is so fresh, some of the best I’ve had in the cities. We got the bolognese, cavatelli and cheesecake for a birthday dessert. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Great experience. Gran experiencia.

4.4 Was overall happy with our experience. My girlfriend and I made a reservation for our anniversary since BLG comes highly recommended. We were hoping for a 2 Top table but received the long shared bench booth. Unfortunately, our table lined up where two booth cushions split, making it uncomfortable for my girlfriend. It also presents a proximity challenge for the servers to tend on the neighboring tables without brushing our shoulders. The overall atmosphere was modern rustic with an open kitchen. With that being said, the restaurant was surprisingly loud. Not as romantic as I would 've hoped but we still rolled with it. The pace also felt quite rushed. We were hoping for an experience on our anniversary and it felt more like turn burn. Our server was quite informative with recommendations but was missing that welcoming air. Started off with some cocktails. My girlfriend ordered an Old Fashioned that came garnished with a kumquat. It was unique but came neat and didn 't really wow us. I ordered a (eventually another) spicy passionfruit margarita. Perfect amount of aggressive heat from the habanero and balanced with a less sour passion fruit alteration. We ordered some spiced carpaccio bruschetta which was absolutely great. The gnocchi with cauliflower orange had been recommended by friends and our server so we put in an order for that and the fusilli with orange kalamata olive lamb sausage. Had to try the house meatball as well. The gnocchi was excellently cooked but nothing over the moon for $26. My fusilli was the BEST pasta I 've ever had. The dish was pretty meat heavy but there was so much flavor and complexity between the pesto, orange, olives, lamb, and pistachios. Highly recommend! The meatball we received was huge. Pretty decent meatball but that particular red sauce was nothing to brag about. We capped off our dinner with another cocktail. My gal had the Keeper which she suggested, especially for a sweet caramelized pineapple flavor. Their aquavit Pina colada was different and delicious. I was impressed with most of their bar program. Had a great dinner but was expecting something more intimate. That 's on me. Some food and drinks were hit and miss but we enjoyed things we couldn 't find elsewhere.
We booked ahead and glad we did. The place was slammed and rockin! I love going to a restaurant that is full with a line at the door. You know before you sit down everyone is here for a great experience. I’d read reviews for an hour in the afternoon sipping Prosecco before we arrived so I had a general ideas of what I wanted to experience. Drinks were a smoky bourbon Manhattan and a spicy margarita. Too spicy so we opted for an espresso martini. And slowly finished the Margarita There were only two of us so we couldn’t share and eat everything we wanted! We had to settle. Something familiar from past trips we drive 7 hours from Canada to eat here, and not since before COVID and something new. Our three openers were the roasted beet salad amazing the soft egg and lobster Bruschetta with ricotta and the ravioli with the creamy egg yolk , one of our faves and one that we’ve done at home since trying it here. Pasta dishes were the rabbit pasta and the gnocchi with orange and cauliflower. Both great, full of their individual flavours and leaving just enough room for desert. Pause here. Joshua our server was awesome! Attentive. There when he was needed, anticipating what we needed and wanted and made a great suggestion for wine. I second guessed him so he brought two samples his and my suggestion and he was right! Happily right The bottle paired well with everything and carried into desert time. I had the chocolate Budino with decaf espresso and the other was the affogato. I shared all the dishes with my partner. Happy memories and a great meal again. Thank you Josh and BLG!
Seems BLG has slipped recently. I loved it when it opened, but my recent trip with my wife was disappointing. The cooks seemed to be heavy handed with the olive oil. My beet salad with goat cheese had nice beets, nice greens, but they were overwhelmed with EVO. Same with the avocado and anchovy bruschetta--soggy, oil laden grilled bread, drizzled again with too much EVO. The freshness and minimalism I knew from before appears to have taken a night off. I am huge EVO fan, but less is more!
