What Jodie Hill doesn't like about restaurant Max:
Four of us met for a pre-viking game brunch. The ambience is really cool. The food was ok (breakfast). The service was bad. Our server took our first drink order after sitting for about 10 minutes. We hardly had the words “**** Mary” forbid our mouth and she ran off to set order (prevents us to ask for a hunter). She didn't stop at our table until we had a manager down to put an additional order and after we had alre... View all feedback.
Four of us met for a pre-football game brunch. The atmosphere was really cool. The food was decent, but the service was poor. Our server took our first drink order after we had been seated for about 10 minutes. We had barely mentioned wanting a Bloody Mary when she rushed off to put in the order (preventing us from asking for a chaser). She did not check on our table again until we had flagged down a manager to place an additional order, after we had already finished our food. Hopefully, this experience was just an exception and not the norm.
This restaurant has one of the trendiest atmospheres in the city. With its delicious food and excellent service, it's a winner every time.

First timers, and loved the old bank ambiance. 4 people, all with different selections all were very pleased with the food, and felt it was an excellent value.
My husband and I went there for the 2nd time and for the 2nd time it was bad service. It was slow, maybe a handful of people in the bar, and no one in the dining . For such a nice place they were super casual, borderline nonshalant about seating us (told us to go sit wherever in the bar). No we're here for dining room. We ordered drinks which took way to long come to us. We ordered our dinner (ribeye to share, prepared medium). When it arrived it was already cut (not over the moon for them to cut it for me), the steak was charred on the outside, super thin, and cooked well done. My husband doesn't like to make a scene (neither do I), but I told her I would expect this kind of steak from Applebee's, not from a fancy restaurant in downtown Minneapolis and I further told her that it wasn't worth the $34 that we were paying for it. DID I MENTION THAT WE WERE ALMOST ENTIRELY DONE WITH THE POTATO, ASPARAGUS, AND SALAD BEFORE SHE DAINED TO COME OVER TO SEE HOW WE WERE DOING!!!!! AND DID I MENTION THAT THE PLACE WAS PRACTICALLY EMPTY, SO WHY SHE DIDN'T SEE THE STEAK ON TWO PLATES ON THE SIDE OF OUR TABLE THE ENTIRE MEAL AND DIDN'T COME OVER. The manager came over, apologized (he should've comped the meal), told us the chef was preparing another ribeye (gave some crappy excuse about cut of a ribeye, like I don't even know what one is supposed to look and taste like). It's been a while since I've had such bad service as enough to call over a manager, but he didn't even offer dessert on them, or another round of drinks, NOTHING. Just some lame excuse to defend his crappy meal. We finally got a really nice cut of ribeye cook perfectly. It better not be because we had a Groupon. If they don't step up their service and staff, they're going to close and I wouldn't be a bit surprised.
