What Namadji doesn't like about Conservatory Restaurant:
The 2022 Mothers Day lunch did not even warrant a special menu, the main courses on offer being the same as the daily menu. Entrees consisted of barbeque prawns which were huge and lovely, a vegetarian pumpkin dish and plain, sliced scallops which seemed very large and tasted unpleasant. The mains of barramundi, pork spare ribs and cauliflour were ordinary and the sweets seemed to have come from the nearest cake shop... View all feedback.
Came here for lunch in a large group. The space is beautiful with a stunning outlook and gorgeous architecture. However, the food match the environs. Smoked duck entree was tiny with 4 pieces of fatty deli meat (not smoky magret of duck breast as you might expect). The wild rabbit pie had exquisite notes of sodium chloride and of the 2 steaks, 1 was blue and the other well-done (medium rare was the order for both). If you want to pay $40 per person for the lovely views then you wont mind dining here. Otherwise eat elsewhere and experience this space for free.
Beetroot salad. Mmm. Was good. Ate every bit. I did wish that the Conservatory Restaurant was separated from the rest of the atrium by more than a waist-height lattice fence, to stop the noise and cafe smells from drifting in.

We attended here as an extended family for a special event. Fantastic views and really good service underpinned a fun Saturday luncheon.Three entrees and three mains alternated ensured plenty to please and share.Quality of food was a welcome surprise as were the wines.Highly recommended.
We have eaten at the Conservatory on two occasions for lunch and have been delighted on both occasions. The restaurant is situated in a corner of the visitor centre near the top of Dairy Farmer Hill with views to the southeast over the Arboretum, Lake Burley Griffin and central Canberra. The menu is set price ($39 for two courses, $49 for three) and contains a good range of options. All the courses that we have had (entrees and mains only) have been excellent. The dishes have been interesting, but not over-the-top esoteric, and they have been of a good size - ie we felt neither cheated nor overfed. The service was low-key but attentive and the courses arrived with good timing. Overall, an excellent experience and now firmly on our list of good eateries.
