Bare Wholefoods - MONA VALE

Second visit to this lovely place tucked away in mona vale. Both visits I enjoyed a delicious brunch - felt really full but in that healthy way afterwards, and the food is not only virtuous but really tasty too. Tried a tumeric latte - not bad but had a proper coffee the second time! Staff generally friendly (one girl not so much) and I would definitely recommend this for breakfast/brunch or lunch. I'll be back.

This is a great place when you want tasty food that is healthy. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but some of the ingredients sounded odd. Let me assure you, it all works. We were there for lunch and I had a lovely Thai noodle bowel. It was fresh, flavourful, spot on seasoning and it was all healthy. Everyone at the table super enjoyed their food. It seemed like a quiet location but they were busy that day. I'd go back anytime and for the price it just makes sense. Tastes good and the good is healthy for you, you can't go wrong at Rough & Bare.

We were a party of 4 for a 9:30am Breakfast, We sat at the big table inside. It was all going well, we were served water and menus within two minutes of sitting down and asked to order at the counter. It is still "all good". The food arrived one plate, a couple of minutes the next 2 plates arrived another couple of minutes & the 4th plate was served. I had the "Bacon & Eggs" the bacon was crispy &the poached eggs were cooked with runny yolks & the salad was fresh & crisp.All the plates had a slice of sourdough - We had to ask for butter. I feel I wasted the butter as the sourdough was hard and when I did take a bite I was crunching it. I didn't take a second bite as one of our party noted "You could easily break teeth trying to eat this stuff"When we first arrived and while waiting for the food to arrive we were chatting amongst ourselves and not really taking in the decor. I had not taken any particular note of some points till I was eating ... I understand a business that calls themselves "Rough & Bare" to have a rustic look and not have plush tables and chairs. The aprons on all the staff looked grubby and dirty & when I noticed that I did not think it looked "rustic" it looked "DIRTY".If the aprons were "Unbleached Cotton" or similar it would have looked "Rustic". I would need a good reason to dine there in the future.

You need to be good to thrive in a car park. Rough and Bare is. The coffee is great - nice and smooth and not bitter. They use actual leaves to make Chai and you can really tell the difference. the food is fresh and organic and the bacon has no nitrites. A great find with parking, literally, at the door.

Great Cafe right in the middle of Mona Vale, always serving creative, healthy food and never leaving disappointed. Highly recommend the green eggs :)
