When it's been a long day, a text from my partner reading "Melati?" is an instant antidote. This is one of those little places that looks mediocre from the outside (and possibly also inside) but is actually a gem of great, home cooked food. Having just marked it's 30th anniversary, and run by a charming couple, Melati is a place for feel good food, authentic and flavoursome. We especially love the chicken curry with... What User doesn't like about Melati Indonesian Restaurant:
This restaurant has been operating 30+ years and the service is good and the food quick, but it's not tasty. We had three mains and two soups. The vegetable soup was tasty but the chicken soup was flavourless. The chicken wit ginger was good, but the vegetables were ...hard to describe. View all feedback.
We recently had dinner at Melati for the first time since the ownership changed before May 2018. Liz and Eric, the previous owners, have retired and passed on the family business to their nephew. He has redecorated the restaurant, giving it a more modern look by replacing the old carpet and outdated vertical blinds from the 80s/90s with fairy lights, floorboards, and modern lighting.
Have not been to Melati for a few years and went back as looks renovated and fresh! I was not disappointed and wish I’d returned earlier. It is a simple, clean yet warm atmosphere the staff were so kind and friendly. The food was amazing the different appetisers so fresh and tasty and the food has so much flavour! Will definitely return and make this a regular. Plus it’s BYO!
Food is delicious with plenty of flavour! Loved the chicken satay kebabs, corn fritters, curry puffs and lamb pancakes for starters! Restaurant is warm and inviting and service is great! Will be coming back!
If you miss Bali and Balinese food, this is the place to unleash your cravings. Place very clean and friendly staff. We ordered the Set A Banquet. They were all so yummy. Generous with spice and herbs. For dessert, we had panna cotta and creme brulle. A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. We’ll be back soon.
Even though Melati's decor is modest, they serve delicious authentic Indonesian cuisine, with a focus on Balinese dishes. I have visited this restaurant multiple times and have found that the majority of the dishes are flavorful and showcase the unique Indonesian taste, using a variety of herbs and spices.
