I like to go eat at nickels from time to time :) The food is good, the service is good too (it is not really crowded when I go there, but still - great service) You have a lot of variety on the menu. You can choose from pasta to chicken bbq. This place isn't like THE best place if you are craving something specific, but it does the job when you are hungry and you are on a low budget ! What User doesn't like about Nickels St Hubert:
Aller au Nickels sur St-Hubert, ce n'est pas une escale gastronomique. En fait, le look retro qui se matérialise de plus en plus avec les années qui passent en fait un cadre idéal pour boire un milk-shake et apprécier l'ambiance. J'espère d'ailleurs que ce coin de rue reste comme tel durant des années encore, car le côté vieux dinner ajoute de la couleur à la Plaza. View all feedback.
During our weekend trip to Montreal, one of our first stops was Les Jardins Dorval, where we stumbled upon this restaurant. The restaurant was quite spacious, but was nearly empty with only 2 other tables occupied when we arrived at 2:30pm on a Saturday of a long weekend. This should have raised a red flag for us. We were swiftly seated by an older waitress, but the service went downhill from there. We had just arrived from a flight and wanted something light to eat. We ordered a Philly Steak Sandwich and six appetizer wings to share. The waitress seemed to have an attitude, questioning if that was all we were going to order and jokingly saying goodbye if we were not going to order more. As for the food, the steak sandwich was decent. The cheese and Philly steak were tasty, but there was a bit too much grease, causing the hotdog bun to become soggy in the middle. The portion sizes were satisfactory. The appetizer wings came with the sauce on the side, which was appreciated, and they were average in taste. The service throughout the meal was practically nonexistent. There were workers (possibly maintenance) changing light bulbs in the fixtures, and both waitresses seemed preoccupied and it took us quite some time to get their attention, despite the lack of customers.
This restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy breakfast with friends. There are plenty of seating options and I have never seen a place so generous with their smoked salmon. Their bagel with smoked salmon is absolutely delicious. The service is great too - you never have to ask for a coffee refill. The restaurant has had a new owner for some time now, and I love the large TVs, excellent wine selection, and beautiful terrace in the summer.
This restaurant is similar to an American Denny's but with better service, a cleaner (and super retro!) atmosphere, and fruit included with every order. I had a breakfast with eggs, toast, pancakes, home fries, and bacon. The bacon wasn't as crispy as I prefer, but everything was delicious and served hot. I was pleasantly surprised to find a slice of orange, pineapple, and a couple blackberries on my plate. The prices were comparable to Denny's. I would definitely return. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because while it's good, it's not the highest quality.
The atmosphere is like a 1950s diner, which is really cool. The wait staff are really nice and accommodating and the food is delicious. We had the burger combo but the fries are a bit oily and the burgers are a bit crumbly. Overall, would come again for a quick bite.
Not a great experience for the price I payed. Waiter didn 't understand any English, so it made ordering and asking questions difficult. My friend ordered a bagel with bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato. They forgot the the lettuce and tomato. We didn 't get any cutlery. My burger was a bit burnt tasting and when the waiter asked how he our meal was I told him it was so-so cause it tasted burnt. He didn 't say anything and walked away. The ketchup bottle broke and squirted ketchup all over my plate. It wasn 't the worst place I 'd been to, but it wasn 't a nice experience. It was comparable to Le belle province only more expensive.
