I love Japanese food. Sushi and tempura are outstanding at Yakata. It is new in this area and worth visiting. We used to go often to the one in Cote des Neiges, but now go to the new restaurant in St Denis which is conveniently closer. The family loves it. I recommend highly. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Yakata:
We had a Groupon coupon and made a reservation through the website. Upon arrival, surprise! The door is closed, the lights are off... we were there during opening hours. I called several times, but no phone service... In addition, they activated our coupon to take the money! We then contacted Groupon who will reimburse us... To avoid if you don't want to be scammed and make the trip only to find a closed restaurant. View all feedback.
This restaurant is pretty low key and hard to even notice, though it is on St-Denis. I would say it is not the best Japanese or even that authentic, but the food is surprisingly good. And the service is top-notch. try it and you will...not be disappointed.
I am not big fun of Sushi, Maki, but likes some other japanese food. As this is newly opened restaurant, in worse position, then sister restaurant in Cote de Neiges sisters) it needs promotion, and we received invitational discoun which was publicly offered...on the entrance to this restaurant. But, not beacuse of that, but excellent presentation of food, lot of different, home-made souces, friend and me were delighted. I will not evaluated miso soup as they are all, more less, for me the same, not even tempura of seefood, where you easy recognize types of fish, by different structure, but all other, were outstanding. VALUE for MONEY EXCELLENT, I am as profesionalist involved in restaurant business, ONLY, BUT very very worried about location of this sister restaurant!! This part of Saint denis, near Jarry metro, has times less traffic, then around Berry Uama metro station.
