That is the best place to take a rest after overcrowded Munich historical center. The Terrassa located between/inside filarmonia and library building. So there is no wind. That is the perfect place to order meals and chill on the sun with a glass of wine. Inside the restaurant, there is a large area for playing with children.Tasty and big Panna Cota :) View all feedback.
What Carl Krebs doesn't like about gast:
I was always satisfied with eating, especially the Asian variants. the chefs often act overloaded and energized. I find this locally very uncomfortable, noisy, the seats uncomfortable, too high or too deep, difficult for older people, constant recurring and restless, you can not eat cozy together, at least one is always on the go. the tablets and tables are sometimes not clean. Suitable for a fast snack outside the s... View all feedback.
I was here during the Munich Film Festival. The atmosphere was great. Despite the restaurant being packed, the food was prepared quickly, and after a number of meals here was consistently good... but the menu is limited because they cook it all fresh on-the-spot.

Each time I visit Munich I eat here. The restaurant is located next to the Gasteig and just a couple of minutes walk from Rosenheimer Platz station. It's a self service style place where food is cooked freshly in front of you while you wait. There are three kitchens: Pasta, Pizza and Indonesian style ( mainly stir fries). There is also a wine/ beer bar and dessert counter. A chicken stir fry and a glass of wine costs €15. To be recommended.
The "restaurant" is self service, the food is Italian Asian, but not really good, the wine was disappointing (which might be related to my expectations), yet, I was not really satisified. ,
Although we went on a major performance night, and there were a number of people enjoying a meal before the show, it didn't feel over crowded and we didn't have to wait long at all. The concept is great - you choose what you want and it is cooked in front of you, or you get a beeper which tells you when your meal is ready. One of us had pizza, which was thin, crispy and tasty. One had WOK vegetables with prawns and rice - very happy with that dish, and I had the Asparagi & Thaibasilico on Mafaldine pasta, with extra chilli and garlic - which was tasty and had a zing. Between the three of us, we had two glasses of wine, a large Coke and a bottle of sparkling water with the meal, and the total bill came to just over EUR50! GAST is a fun place to enjoy a well prepared, simple and tasty meal - it's not fine dining, so don't expect to get that. It's certainly worth a visit and you won't be disappointed if you relax and allow yourself to enjoy something just a bit different.
