10 of us were doing a wine tour on a Monday and stopped in Nairne for lunch. Unfortunately the pub in Nairne doesn't usually serve food on Monday but they kindly made an exception and invited us in. We expected to be told there would be only a limited number of choices available but were handed a menu and told anything on it would be made for us. Everything was wonderful and the service top notch. Those that had the seafood basket said it was great as did those that had the lamb shank meal. A couple of us had schnitzels and couldn't believe the size that came out on the plate. It literally hung over the edges of the plate and was VERY good. A great lunch and great service at this small country pub.
What User doesn't like about District Hotel:
The food and bartenders were lovely aswell as it being a great venue but the owners who are also the managers were sitting at the end of the bar drunk and verbally abusing their hard working staff which was totally disgusting and a major put...More View all feedback.
Came in for a drink around 3:30 and yes it was Australia day, but the service even for a public holiday was not good. Wife waited 15mjns in line to get served. Ordered two cocktails off the new menu but this was not well received. They did not want to make them. They took the cocktail menus away after our order. The espresso martinis were sub par because they were rushed. Staff had an argument over making them. I am a local and like coming here but the service is not good.
We had a wonderful lunch with our family at this restaurant. We ordered gnocchi with duck, salmon, and shanks, along with dumplings and duck spring rolls. The food was served promptly by the friendly staff.
Something doesn’t feel quite right in this pub. Half done reno with confused lay out and no table service upstairs (which is fine but no one took our plates after 2 hours) and felt like the staff just don’t want to be there…it wasn’t as if it was busy less than 1/4 full a smile can go a long way. Ordering at the front bar and staff seemed confused. One of our meals was forgotten and wine by the glass x 2 had turned not a good sign for an establishment aiming to become a gastro pub. My meal (lamb pie) was average, Dad enjoyed his steak…3 year old nephew (meal forgotten) when I asked for some more sauce staff member sarcastically said “oh you want more” sorry, but this ain’t an expensive relish we were asking for!!! Had coffees on the deck after lunch and it was so cold we asked for the blind to be put down as my sister has a baby and cold win was told it’s broken which is fair enough but there were 2 gas burners turned off. Didn’t bother asking to have them put back on as it felt like the staff wanted us to go home it was freezing. Would not return.
Enjoyable dinner here while I was staying with Nairne. Beef schnitzel with chips and salad and local wine was tasty and good value. Nice staff.
To the management team: Please don't change a thing. I recently visited your restaurant in Nairne with a group of thirteen men and we were all extremely pleased with the excellent service and delicious food. The woman who tended to the bar, took our orders, and served our tables deserves recognition for her hard work. The cozy atmosphere of the country pub, complete with an open log fire in the dining room and front bar, added to our overall dining experience. Well done!
