This was my first time at 29 Fair. It was very small, quiet, warm, and cozy perfect for a small party of couple. I had the surf and turf and it was amazing! Steak with a peppercorn sauce, lobster tail, and potatoes with veggies. There is no liquor here but the wine and beer list was good. What Ward Hayes doesn't like about 29 Fair:
Highly disappointing. I booked a reservation at 29 Fair on Open table for a Monday night in July and had my reservation confirmed. Only to find out when I arrived at the restaurant that THEY WERE CLOSED. I then proceeded to call and a representative from the restaurant group answered and said yes they were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Then why are you accepting reservations on those days???? My most recent visit to this restaurant was very unpleasant. Despite having a reservation, we waited over 10 minutes before any staff member approached us. The hostess appeared confused and flustered as she attempted to seat us, while other diners warned us not to stay because they had been waiting over an hour for food. We reluctantly sat down but after 15 minutes of no service, we left. Overall, a disappointing experience compared to our previous fabulous visit.
It seemed a very off night for what we have heard about this place. I don’t know if the restaurant was extremely short staffed or if something else had gone awry but we waited 30 min to get a bottle of wine, one of the girls at the table was continually bumped into by employees, several members of the staff were rude/unapologetic.
The fresh salmon and salads were delicious and cooked perfectly! The ambiance of the restaurant is charming, cozy, and inviting. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the service and poor management. We were surprised by the lack of organization and attentiveness, not only at our table but at others around us as well. It seemed like there was a lack of communication among the staff. For example, our server did not inform us of any specials, but the couple next to us were able to order from a special menu. When asked about it, our server mentioned that the chef did not inform her of any specials. There was also some confusion with the seating arrangement, as a table was removed and then brought back a few minutes later, causing a bit of disruption. The staff appeared to be unhappy and not in sync with each other, making the dining experience uncomfortable at times. Despite these issues, the food was excellent, but the management and employees could benefit from improvement.
Horrible experience over Christmas stroll. Waited 15 minutes just to be seated when the restaurant was completely empty. The waitstaff was extremely overwhelmed by just a few tables of people. The food was practically inedible and made us very sick after. Not to mention us and the tables around were given the wrong checks multiple times. Highly do not recommend!
When we arrived, the restaurant was closed and nobody answered my phone calls.
