all its so perfect! The atmosphere, the staff, the food, the beer is just perfect! I come here many times and every time I want to come back! At this moment I can not complain about anything! If you came to Neuchatel you can not...miss Cafe du Cerf! View all feedback.
What Damion Bradtke doesn't like about Café du Cerf:
Didn't eat here but came a few times to catch live football. Was disappointed last night when the game I wanted to see wasn't on as the Cerf had a problem with Sky. Pints of Guinness are good and are typical Swiss prices at CHF9...but there are 2 happy half hours when it drops to CHF6. You'll see all sorts in here from students to business visitors. There's steady traffic in and out of the small bar as people head to... View all feedback.
We wanted to attend with friends to a quizz night organized by the pub. The crew was very rude with us, saying that as we are new, they could not give us a proper table and we could just leave if we were not happy....So we did! I mean I would have understood if it was said nicely, but it was like the guy was doing us a favor to accept us in their almost private party ! although this pub has a quite good atmosphere, I will probably never going in again, because as a pub allegedly made for expats and gathering new people, they are doing it wrong.
Advertised as an irish pub but dont be fooled into thinking its your typical theme chain style. its a charming little bar that does a good range of beers (including guiness and kilkenny) with some traditional british pub grub. great friendly staff and a great...atmosphere
After 16 months of pandemic-enhanced absentment my family and I went to the café du cerf (Friday, 11. juni) for drinks and a meal. What do you want me to say? the owner (emilio), manager (johan) and the entire cerf team were still there, still smiling and still hard working. we were greeted like real friends. we had a very pleasant evening and eating (nacho and chicken sledge star followed by iko burger for my son and fish and chips for my wife and i) was excellent. the caffe du cerf remains my best choice in newchatel for appetizers or casual eating. I am looking forward to visiting much more frequently, as normality returns. a great thanks to emilio, johan and her team. we're coming back!
I visit Neuchatel quite regularly and Café du Cerf is by far my favourite place to go for a drink, something casual to eat and also listen to live music. It is known as an Irish Bar but it is certainly not the tourist trashy...bar that you find in most European Cities. This place is set on mainly two floors and is extremely popular with Ex Pats of all nationalities, including the local Swiss. I love it because the manager, staff and customers are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. Most people speak English here too, which is always a bonus in Switzerland. The food and dinning here is casual but extremely good and very well priced for Swiss standards. I am very particular about my food and like to eat well cooked, well sourced, good quality ingredients. You will find all of those in the kitchen at Cafe de Cerf. Personally I love the Burgers here, which are served with a good portion of fries and fresh salad. They are definitely the best Burgers in town! They serve fish and chips and other good dishes too, plus they serve a cooked Irish Breakfast/Brunch on a Saturday (check kitchen opening hours). This bar is very sociable and friendly and yes they will occasionally have the T.V on a Saturday if there is a good football, or rugby match but this is not a noisy sports bar at all. They have a quiz night twice a month but Café de Cerf is mainly known for being a social hub for Ex Pats and locals alike, good beer, good food and very high on the list of great live music. They often have an Open Mic night once a month during the week and great local bands playing nearly every weekend. This is a comfortable bar to come to during the day or evening, welcoming people of all ages, young and old, to get together, eat good food, drink great beer, including Guinness and listen to good music. This place is a little Gem, so don’t miss it!
After 16 months of pandemic-enforced absence my family and I went to the Café du Cerf (Friday 11th June) for drinks and a meal. What can I say? The owner (Emilio), manager (Johan) and all of the Cerf team were still there, still smiling and...still working hard. We were welcomed like real friends. We had an immensly pleasant evening and the food (Nacho and chicken slider starters followed by Iko Iko burger for my son and fish and chips for my wife and I) was excellent. The Café du Cerf remains my best choice in Neuchatel for pre dinner drinks or casual dining. I look forward to being able to visit much more frequently as normality returns. A huge thanks to Emilio, Johan and their team. We will be back!!
