We were pleasantly surprised. It was all very good. Honestly we had been avoiding going from past unpleasant experiences but today made up for it. I would definitely recommend it and return to it again. Very friendly staff also. View all feedback.
What Iván Badillo dislikes about Dragon Bowl Restaurant:
This is one of 4 or more Chinese/Asian food restaurants in the immediate area, and is likely the most in need of upgrades all around. The building is tired looking from the road, the interior decor is aged and questionably clean, and the food is mediocre. The one bright spot that this place has to offer is the return of one of the best Thai cooks to have operated a kitchen in the area. Tak's foods are well worth the... View all feedback.
We ate at this restaurant while we attended a meeting in Pictou. The food were hot and tasty. A good selection of food. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was cold but when asked the waitress to turn up the heat, it became comfortable. The prices are reasonable. They serve a buffet but we ordered from the menu, which has various items of Chinese and Thai Food. I would recommend this place to others. I would go back again.
The Dragon Bowl Restaurant has been a fixture in New Glasgow for more then 40 years and its food has gone though many revisions. Overall we have found the latest rendition fair. It is a shame really, with the closing of Mings Restaurant the Dragon bowl has a unique opportunity to capture the market left however they have not risen to the occasion. True they have brought back the buffet however the presentation area is dreadful. They badly need a face lift, get rid of that dirty looking carpet which has been there forever, reface the entrance and booths, get rid of the stupid fish tank. Move the bathroom upstairs and not down in a dungeon basement. Blow out the wall between the front and back rooms so everyone feels inclusion and make their buffet more accessible. Overall cost should be less then 20K and then employ the best cooks in the area and they would probably become as successful as Simon was with Mings. Right now Joe Chow presents the best Chinese food in New Glasgow howver they are limited in space which is a very lucky thing for the dragon bowl.
New Management, lower prices, delicious combination plates. They got rid of the buffet, but the quantity you get in the combos more than make up for it. The quality is far superior to anything they've had in the past. They've added a Thai menu as well, Delicious.
Order a combo plate the chicken balls were terrible the chicken was very dry and hard. The chow mein was barely warm. Very disappointing. ....
Showed up 15 minutes before closing and was greeted friendly to come in. Was served some good Chinese food within 20 minutes of sitting down. Very nice and accommodating for being so late.
