The food is exceptionality tasteful. The atmosphere is beautiful! But the service was horrible this last time! I won?t take away from this establishment because of one bad experience. But management needs to correct this! Even after speaking with the Manger! I was astonish on what the server told management ! Just to make the customer seem that there wrong! Pio Pio was the favorite dining spot in a week in Manhattan. Everything about the place was first rate. It’s a lively place, from the interesting, colorful dishes to the gaiety at the tables. (While we were there, there were a half-dozen birthdays being celebrated. A note about the portions: they’re huge. We’re used to sharing an appetizer before each having a main course. Although our appetizer (calamari was excellent, the addition of the appetizer meant that most couldn’t finish their main courses. Not being able to finish the main courses was a pity because they were intriguing and delicious—combinations of flavors we hadn’t experienced before. (We’d describe the food as half way between Spanish and Mexican. And the service was terrific. Our server, Israel, was charming, attentive, and helpful.
Came here for the first time never having Peruvian food. The ambiance and decor is great. We got the Perucho tasting appetizer. Tried beef heart for the first time and everything was great. The size of the entree and sides were huge. I had leftovers for three days with the arroz Chaufa. We got the mama Juanita’s chicken with maduros, avocado salad, tostones and the aji’ de Gallina. Everything was great. The tostones were our least favorite. They were good but a little bland for me. For dessert we got the chocolate cake. It was okay. Overall nice atmosphere, large portions, good food but tiny everything was great and our waiter wasn’t the friendliest.
This food is delicious. The server helped us pick ceviche appetisers and they were fantastic. We had the large paella and split it and it was delicious. I recommend trying one of the pisco cocktails. Very good. The decore is stylish. The restaurant is big and a bit loud but we had no trouble hearing each other. We will return.
Great friendly service, excellent food and good value. We had special recipe chicken rice and beans, big portion size would highly recommend.
