With a mix of tapas and entrees to choose from, this restaurant provides a welcoming atmosphere and attentive service. While some diners experienced minor issues with reservations and service timing, the general consensus is that the food is the main draw. From flavorful tapas to refreshing sangria, Mompou offers a delightful dining experience that is perfect for pre-show meals or leisurely nights out with friends and family. Overall, this is a spot worth checking out for those looking to enjoy a unique culinary adventure in the Iron Bound section of Newark.
The vegetable paella, bacalao, and flan are all excellent
Food was great. It was only loud because there was a Spanish Guitar band and a flamenco dancer. They were very good but it made it a bit hard to talk. I think they have different bands one night a week. Would definitely go back
I had received many recommendations for restaurants in the Iron Bound section but stumbled on this in Trip Advisor. I really didn't want a typical big SpanishPortuguese meal before a show at the Prudential Center so this sounded appealing to me. My date and I were so glad we took a chance on this place!!! At first we were seated in the front area which was loud but with a great Saturday night vibe. But then I discovered a quaint covered patio area in the back and they quickly and pleasantly moved us out there. From the moment we walked in we felt extremely welcomed. Rachel was our server and she gave us great advice and was prompt with the service. The sangria was delicious and not loaded with ice. We had rounds of tapas, all were very tasty and I look forward to going back and trying other dishes!! We were able to get in and out of there, not feeling rushed... or stuffed!!!! And walked up to the Pru Center for our concert. They do have larger dishes for those who want that and I will most likely return for that as well on a night when I am not going to a show. Give this place a try! You won't regret it
We were going to a concert and needed a place to eat in walking distance to the venue. I picked this place after reading the reviews and so glad I did! The service staff were very attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere was cozy we sat outside, the food was delicious. We ordered a bunch of tapas and entree it was only of us and shared everything. Everything we ate was seasoned well, never needed salt or pepper which were not on any table. The only reason I gave the food stars was because some of the tapas were not hot when they were served. I would definitely go back again and bring my friends and family
We were looking for a place for early dinner before a recent show at the Prudential Center. We had a short walk from the train and a little farther walk back to the Center. When we arrived, we were the only patrons. Soon after the place started to fill and was quite the place to be. The staff was attentive and friendly, the food fresh and tasty. We even enjoyed the music and hope to return
