The meal was one of the best I have had from starter to desert in a long time. The calamari was lightly breaded with a delicious sauce. Both meals were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The desert was excellent as well. The bonus was a great selection of craft 0.0% beer and ciders! Double bonus was a friendly and excellent server! If I was within 30 miles of this restaurant I would visit again View all feedback.
What Moses Nienow doesn't like about The Garrison House:
We're very disappointed with the inconsistency of menu items and the wait staff. Very rude and careless attitude once order has been taken. Food is hit and miss. There's a push to get you out as soon as possible by wait staff. Always over filling wine glass during the meal. We're very disappointed with the inconsistency of menu items and the wait staff. Very rude and careless attitude once order has been taken. Food is hit and miss. There's a push to get you out as soon as possible by wait staff. Always over filling wine glass during the meal. When asked for condiments, we did not receive them at all yet our bottle of wine was continually being worked to over fill our glasses. We are locals and have made several attempts to dine at this establishment. Sadly, the poor wait staff and the uncomfortable tables and chairs along with elite attitude has forced us away. Pricey and pretentious
After searching through many restaurant options in NOTL, The Garrison House proved to be the right choice. Timing seems to be an issue with later dining here and we were happy to see that the Garrison was open later for guests that cannot make the "6pm rush".The atmosphere was relaxed but trendy, TV's by the bar for the sports fans and quaint live wood edge tables candlelit for couples. A fantastic menu with kitchen staff serving mouth watering plates. Offering gluten free and vegetarian options without a fuss; there is something for everyone.
Sundays are always busy in NOTL, plus most of the restaurants there is a little bit too posh for our needs. The Garrison House / Tavern has all we were looking for: casual, laid back atmosphere, nice but not overload menu, descent drinks selection and friendly staff. It's not the cheapest one, but definitely worth trying in Sunday afternoon (or any other day). Less then 10 min drive from NOTL.
We knew we loved Garrison House from a previous vacation, so we looked forward to returning. Well, it was so good, and since we were there for the week, we went back to days later! Both times were amazing. I've got to say: I'm a burger person and Garrison's burger is made from in-house ground meat, so you can have it cooked to your liking. That is HEAVEN to a burger lover! My perfectly medium burger arrived with fries to die for! Was so good I ordered it again 2 days later because an amazing burger is hard to find. Hubs had chicken the first night, and the flat iron steak the second night. He enjoyed both. HINT: don't be afraid of the curried ketchup... it is divine! Hubs, who usually doesn't enjoy curry wouldn't leave my curried ketchup alone!
This had the best burger my girlfriend and I have ever eaten!!!Beautiful little restaurant with ample seating and a great bar selection of craft beverages from the local breweries and wineries. Service was fantastic and the menu had a great selection of meals to choose from.
