We were visiting Creux du Van when we got caught by a sudden storm. When returning to our car, we stopped for a tea and to get warm at Le Soliat. We only took tea and some cake, it was nice and tasty. View all feedback.
What Louis Leduc doesn't like about de la Ferme du Soliat:
that eating is not great, it is survival food, and we had initially a problem as they had lost our table reservation, and were not helpful, but finally we were helped by yann who saved the day and gave us great service. the restaurant is located...in the fantastic location of the creux du van, which is why you go there. Went for lunch with friends, better outside than inside as it is not easy to walk upstairs if you are with elderly people. Tables out are much better and you have the locals cows with bells...always a hit with kids! This place is not easy to...find but with a GPS no problems.Lovely walks all around but you have to be very very careful with kids, great views . The food was ok and plenty but nothing to rave about, prices are expensive, for 4 people plus 1 bottle of wine and 2 of water 100 euros...they take euros but give you change in suisse francs , still worth it for the views. They seem to have a dormatory etc but it looks like it is more for students I think this place would be better in the winter as you then could appreciate the dark wood inside and the suisse feel of winter. Friendly staff, may be a family run business
A nice place to sit outside and enjoy the people walking by on their way to/back from Creux du van. You can enjoy a nice local food like ham plates or a cheese fondue with a drink.
My visit was actually in 2011, but TripAdvisor won't give me that choice when picking the date. It was such a magical trip, although very short from Neuchatel. We went to Creux du Van with a couple of friends to enjoy the beauty of the...place. Around 300m from the breathtaking summit lies this restaurant very authentic from outside to inside and where I had the best cheesecake of my entire life. Highly recommend it.
Yes, if you like Michelin’s style restaurants (BTW I like them too , this place might be a bit scary for you. Just simple wooden house in the middle of nowhere, but if reach this place to admire amaizing Creaux de Van rocky amphitheater, than...there is nothing better than sit in the garden of Le Soliat, surrounded by Swiss cows : and enjoy fantastic Swiss cooking cheese called foundue. This is just a MUST and by the way the quality of their fondue is really high. Service staff is also very friendly and quick, so take this challenge and you will definitely like it !!!
The food at the restaurant was nice but we had to stay in line for 30 minutes. The organisation must definitively improove. It is a cash only place, very unusual nowadays.
