Contribute FeedbackVilla Sandvigen is a historic restaurant with stunning views of the lake and picturesque surroundings. Located on the old highway between Tusenfryd and Oslo, the restaurant offers both lunch and dinner options, with a friendly staff always ready to assist. During our last visit, we enjoyed delicious open sandwiches for lunch - I opted for the steak sandwich, while my wife chose the shrimp sandwich. Both selections were outstanding.
Villa Sandvigen is a hidden gem located along Gamle Mosseveien near Tusemfryd, just outside of Oslo. It's the perfect cozy spot to enjoy a meal with family, in-laws, or friends who enjoy venturing outside the city for delicious food. I have a personal connection to this place as it's somewhere I grew up visiting with my parents and grandparents. The delicious food, especially their brown-cheese ice cream dessert, is another reason why I love Villa Sandvigen. Over the years, the restaurant has been owned by different people who have all contributed to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu may be smaller than some places, but there's something for everyone. I recently visited on Mother's Day and enjoyed a fantastic three-course dinner special. The owner greeted us at the door and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The staff were mostly polite, although there was one waitress who mixed up our orders. I highly recommend trying their perfectly cooked steak with potatoes and homemade Béarnaise sauce – it's absolutely delicious! They also offer the option to split dishes, making it ideal for sharing with children. Overall, Villa Sandvigen goes above and beyond to ensure a happy dining experience.
