We have not been to Norwood for some time, but today we deci... read more Many people know that Uncle Albert’s is a good place to visit for breakfast, lunch and in-betweens. We have not been to Norwood for some time, but today we decide to visit for coffee and cake. Access is easy and there is car parking nearby. There is ample seating inside, and out in the covered mall. It is late afternoon with only a few customers, and gentle background music makes it easy to converse. We order our drinks and choose a cake to share from the interesting offering on display – some rather different possibilities. Our order is soon brought to our table, my cappuccino with high froth as ordered, and the most delicious chocolate cake. So today’s rating is 4/5 for the general experience plus 1 for the marvellous cake!

I'd last been here a few times about 3-4 years ago and... read more I hadn't been to Uncle Albert's in a little while, so when I was in the area I thought I'd give it a go. I'd last been here a few times about 3-4 years ago and each time had had a lovely experience with fresh, fantastic food and friendly staff. Well maybe I caught them on an off day this time because it just wasn't good. In fact it was poor. My coffee was weak, watery and lukewarm and my toasted turkish bread wasn't really toasted and the ingredients didn't taste very fresh. I also didn't understand how my food took nearly 20 minutes to arrive when there weren't many people there.The staff were uninterested in serving, one server was extremely short tempered and rude not just with customers but with other staff members. Maybe that was the reason they didn't seem happy, I don't know. It just didn't seem like the place I remembered from a few years ago. It just didn't really seem worth the money or the effort, so I won't ever be back.

Food is acceptable and you won't be disappointed with its taste nor prices. Service is friendly and fast. There are some lovely cakes too for the sweet tooth! All in all will not disappointed if you do need a cafe meal when around Norwood.
