We had a simple menu with shrimp ravioli to start, and crispy beef afterwards, well done. The desert was only one ice cream, but good. We were served nicely by two women. View all feedback.
What Khaled M doesn't like about Mékong:
I have been going the Mekong since 1994 since I was a teenager. I am sorry to say the general quality of food and service has massively deteriorated (sadly the prices still stay very high! . First was was the consistently unfriendly service from the...More View all feedback.
Nice location overlooking the water but the food was pretty grim the chicken satay skewers were over cooked and dry and the duck spring rolls tasted like soapy water. We ordered beef in schuan sauce as a main which was tasty but the overall...More
I was negatively surprised to see how the quality of the food and the presentation of the dishes had deteriorated since I had been there a year ago. It used to be a treat to go out for dinner in this restaurant but I will...More
To day i have decided to stop in Nyon and try the Mekong Rest by the lake,no parking , welcome ok by a Portuguese server, decoration very nice very Chinese.Service very fast almost to fast.quiet good selection of menu with many options with set menu.I decided a la carte with a wantan soup to start, followed by a steamed shumei and a duck sprinroll , food tasted all the same to me , i think they cooking chinese food to please the swiss taste, Price was ok.
We are / were fans of the Mekong and this for more than 2 decades. If we think asian in the region. Mekong came always in our minds !But - as every restaurant - there were a lot of Management changes and our last experience was really bad. The food was OK but not fantastic - the card is not more the same as in the past. shame to change something which was working. No, it's in the service. It was half empty at lunch time (when always really full in the past) and we were waiting. waiting. waiting. And the cherry on the cake : 1 bottle of water : CHF 9,- amazing, no ?!? when the next table had tab water...The positive. the are always changes in life.
We've lived in Nyon region for 13 years but never been to this restaurant because we'd heard poor reviews. Tonight my son and I decided to give it a go. It was really excellent. Great, warm atmosphere, with friendly greeting and service. I had a glass of house wine as an apero and it turned out to be a nice Bourgogne red at CHF4 per glass. Great value, so I had a second! We received a nice taster, a fish pattie. My son ate mine as well as his own and said it was great. For starters, we had veg spring rolls. Clearly home made, tasty and two big pieces that looked more like Samosas but they were great. My son had Beef Pho soup and, a hard judge, he was a very happy. There was a good selection for vegetarians and my stir fried tofu with bean sprouts was excellent. A nice serving size too. I had it with fresh steaming rice. The bean sprouts were crisp and fresh so the dish had clearly been made on the spot. Everything came hot and in good time. We didn't have desert but the selection looked interesting. CHF66 for the whole meal by Swiss standards was reasonable I thought. We're definitely going again, taking the whole family. I'll go there for lunch too. Judging by earlier reviews from a few years back, this place has turned around. Congratulations to the proprietors.
