Contribute FeedbackEckl's Restaurant has seen some mixed reviews since new ownership took over a few years ago, with some disappointed diners noting inflated prices and lackluster food quality. However, others have praised the welcoming staff and excellent service, referring to Eckl's as a hidden gem in the Buffalo area. While some have expressed frustration with slow service, regular customers are rethinking future visits. The menu offers a variety of options for all tastes, with standout dishes like the bratbeef and delicious chocolate cake. In conclusion, Eckl's Restaurant continues to be a popular choice for both locals and visitors to the region.
We were greeted when we first came in, barkeeper was very attentive and knowledgeable of drinks. we had dinner here and both the bartender and waitress, made sure that we could get something that was not on the menu with our meal by asking the cook before we ordered. highly recommended.
Eckl’s Restaurant review Don’t go! I haven’t been here since the new owners took over 2/3 years ago. Had expectations, hoping it would get back the Mojo Dale Eckl made famous. Big disappointment. Nothing has changed at this local hole in the wall. That is except for the cloth napkins and table cloths, which is a nice touch. Oh, and a 40% to 50% increase in the prices. The steak was just awful, the local supermarket sells a much better one for $7.99 a pound. They charge $30 for what was an insult to serve. An inch of gangly fat on one end, not much better the other, thin cut and no flavor. My partner order from the small plates and small is not the word – micro is more like at $18.95! $11 for a very small glass of wine, $11 for a Dewar’s. A few years ago Eckl’s went out of business because the food was so terrible. It looks like the new owners have kept the same cook from before they came on board. Everything looked as if it was cooked on a flattop grill, you know, the type you seen in a diner. Come to think of it, you can get a much better meal at a diner and pay a third of the price. I know this is a tough review, but I don’t mind paying top notch prices, but I expect top notch food.
We had dinner on Mother’s Day and we’re surprised we got reservations. The food was just okay. We all had the roast beef sandwiches and although they were tasty, the beef was skimpy, the rolls had been microwaved and a bit soggy. The French fries were cool to cold. My daughter had the Mac and cheese and it was a very small portion for the price. So we would say it is not the same great restaurant it used to be but just so-so.
Both the food and service were excellent. I really would consider Eckl’s a hidden gem. Their menu has something for everyone and save room for the chocolate cake, outstanding!!!
The food was ok, however the portions were incredibly small. The waitress was great. I’m not going back again. The price was not worth the disappointment.
