I don't order egg rolls anymore; I much prefer spring rolls. But a colleague suggested I try their egg rolls. He said they are the best. He's right! They were absolutely delicious! As for the rest of the menu, I prefer schezuan, etc. But I don't care: it's worth the visit just for the egg rolls! View all feedback.

We have been going to the Golden Palace for over 15 years. Each time, the food gets a little drier, the service a bit slower, the ambiance just not right. Today, they hit bottom. the service was nonchalant, the food was tepid, either overly sweet or too hot (we specifically asked for mild heat) and their signature dish - General Tao's chicken - was simply deep fried chicken balls. Now don't get me wrong. This place is famous for their egg rolls for good reason. We love them. But they have long since stopped caring about the rest of their food or in the way they treat their customers. Most of their menu is simply bland and stupidly expensive. We always get take-out, so maybe the food served in the restaurant is better, but we now pick-up our egg rolls, then do a second stop elsewhere for better food.They also don't even bother to be polite. 50% of the time, they send me away with the wrong order and don't seem to care.
De passage à Ottawa, nous avons trouvé l'adresse de ce restaurant par hasard, en consultant le guide dans la chambre d'hôtel. Le hasard a bien fait les choses !Ce restaurant vaut le détour pour plusieurs raisons.* Le cadre : inchangé depuis son ouverture, vous êtes propulsé dans une copie assez chip d'un palais chinois en toc. Même le costume des serveur dates des années 70.* Le personnel : adorable ! Avec presque un serveur dédié par table, ils sont à vos soins.* La cuisine : nous avons pris un menu complet, nous avons mangé très copieusement... nous somme partis avec presque autant. Leurs travers de porc au caramel sont excellents, comme tout le reste !* Le prix : très raisonnable.Au final, nous avons passé une excellente soirée, mangé comme des rois dans un lieu atypique. Un excellent souvenir de voyage.
Wonderful place to have excellent Chinese food and their Egg Rolls are beyond delicious, they also ship their Egg Rolls to whatever destination you are in or are going to be in. Service is excellent, it is a very busy resturant. Can't wait to return.
I reviesed this restaurant awhile back ,but went back last week and have to review again.The food is delicious ,the egg rolls are famous.You can actually have them sent anywhere across the country if you are willing to pay transport .Look them up on line.We ate so much and brought back a few dozen egg rolls home.
Full disclosure. I am not from Ottawa and am used to Chinese food in Calgary. Prices are higher and portions are smaller than I am used to. We heard about the egg rolls and they are definitely the best we have had. Ordered six- got five but can't drive back for one egg roll. Ordered chicken fried rice. Was surprised at how little was provided. Good quality but at the price I expected more. Final complaint. With a seventy dollar take out order, could you not throw in a few fortune cookies?? Seriously??
