Le Moulin De Provence k-d - Ottawa

I picked up two croissant as a treat to bring home for supper. To our great disappointment the croissant tasted very sweet, were not at all flaky, and the dough inside was pasty and looked liked they have not been fully cooked. After paying over $5 for two croissant I expected better.

We happened upon this delightful French patisserie by accident and were absolutely enchanted with the range of sweets on offer and the excellent espresso. The breads looked delectable as well. It had a very congenial atmosphere and one could easily imagine sitting there comfortably for hours!

We needed a coffee and a treat between tours and decided to try a place along the way. We were very impressed by the selection and quality of the baking. Definitely worth the stop.

The title says it all. In recent years I've been disappointed by the cinnamon bun options downtown. A friend suggested I try here, and since I had some time that day, I gave it a shot. First thing, they don't have a traditional cinnamon bun, but a cinnamon brioche. I was ok with that, so I proceeded. I thought that they looked kind of small for the price, but again I decided to press on. Turns out what I thought was the brioche in question was only half of it - they're huge - woo-hoo! Revelling in my pending joy, I decided to add a brewed coffee to my order, and was happy to see that it was Happy Goat coffee, which is great stuff. Downside was that the staff had a hard time understanding my coffee preference because the roast I chose was named 'espresso (something)' and they kept asking me if I wanted a single shot or double - a small and frustrating comedy of errors. Suggestion - don't name a flavour of one thing the same as another option!When i finally got to my office and got to sit down with my food, I was not disappointed. It was a great brioche, with good flavours and texture. But sadly, it wasn't scratching the itch I had for a cinnamon bun, so the hunt goes on!

Large,modern premises in an area of office blocks.Wide range of food available to eat in or takeaway.The cakes looked particularly appealing.They do a number of proper meals for lunchtime.Nice staff.
