in this restaurant sat for a family dinner and not regretted it! the place is very cozy and reminds of a medieval tavern with wooden and cover and very welcoming staff a tablet of minze cake right in front of the entrance). our waiter was very cheerful, friendly and prompt and the dishes were amazing! home made focaccia was my personal highlight followed naturally by the excellent lamb! they only have to order it whe... What Harley Scott doesn't like about Magdalen Arms:
Atmosphere was warm and friendly but the food was mediocre. I dined on a Friday evening before the pub got busy. It took 40 mins for my steak which was not done per my request to be served. The chips were undercooked and tasted like old oil. View all feedback.
Slices of the bark sky! with the woman and our two friends and all that was served, tasted amazing! there was a waiting time, but for what came to the table, I would have waited longer.
Ah-MAZING! that is really a jewel! amazing fresh food. they change the menu daily. nice drinks options also. I had the oldest and Prosecco pizza. the lunch melted in my mouth. the guinea was so tender and had a nice sauce. also panna cotta with strawberries for dessert. we've reserved for dinner tomorrow night.
Magdalen arms received a great review of time in 2010, which it announced as not only the best eating in oxford (which it was admitted not a huge accolade) but also as some of the best food in Britain. as a result, many people here in the city have made their way away, and because there is a short bus or a 15min walk from the center oxford takes it a small dedicated effort to make it. some of the reviews have recently been mixed over the dishes, recently on average, dee overboiled and strongly oversalted. but of course were some reviews positiw. as usual, who better to test than to know for me? a part of the reason was the lack of other decisions that sue my interest (the...more
I will begin with that this was far from my first visit to the magdalen arms, on which iffley road was, nor will it be my last for the magdalen arms is too foot from my house, and I am a big fan. it is one of my favorite places to eat locally, but also one of my favorite places to visit friends and family. if you live in oxford and haven't been. what the **** did you do? the magdal arms has been popular for over three years for their warm and welcoming atmosphere, but especially for their simple, glorious food. above all, they serve breathtaking sharing the main, who even know the snobbiest of food, think of achs slowly roasted lamb, served with...read more
There is practically nowhere to eat in Oxford. Nowhere good that is. Perhaps it’s some sort of academic badge of honour, an interest in good food, as if it’s slightly distasteful, unseemly, even, amid all that learning. One’s mind fixed on higher things, perhaps. Or maybe it’s just another **** British town, where the food revolution hasn’t quite taken hold. But no-one told them at The Magdalen Arms, because they are turning out food of a quality which belies its understated appearance. Dark claret-coloured walls and a mustard-yellow ceiling are not at the cutting edge of
