What Roland Huet doesn't like about Chez Papa:
We had a funny little meal at this restaurant while in Paris. We appreciated that it was open quite late and that the staff spoke excellent English. The food was adequate, typical for Paris, and not too expensive. I would recommend ordering the cheese plate...as an appetizer for two (or three)! View all feedback.
Years ago we loved the rue gassendi original chez papa with its salads gigantesques full of lardons, duck, gizzards, cheese and vegetables, a true brew-ouest fixed at a low price in a rustic environment. now a chain, it has a generic look and average food....I had the salat that was still good, but the salat so white and stiff, the tomato hard and tasteless. we also had achua, chopped calf with sauce and lots of cut kartoffels. an appetizer of the pâté was good, but also with the same salate and tomaten. a pichet wein was definitiw cheap and showed it. the service was friendly and helpful, although distracted, and it still seems very popular.
After a huge disappointment at Bouillon Chartier we found Chez Papa in the vicinity. Well, it was a great experience, we came back the second night and enjoyed it again. The food was very tasty, the waiting time was very reasonable, prices are fair. The staff...was very friendly and special requests were no problem, one of us required a lactose free diet the escalope veau was adjusted accordingly and my garlic allergy was no problem, the escalope canard with potatoes, mushrooms and cheese on top a nice casserole was also adjusted accordingly, the omelettes are recommendable as well, and so is the salad with curry chicken. The simple Rosè wine of the Gascogne region is a very fair offer. Go there, try it out and enjoy!
Chez papa is a restaurant chain which serves french south-west specialities. Personally I chose a duck breast with steamed potatoes.I appreciated it very much, so that ones I had finished it, I would have wanted to eat another one. The cost of the dish is...16€ and it's quite cheap considering where the location is set and the parisian high living cost. However the experience was satisfying, I recommend it.
We have eaten here three times for lunchThe Boyarde salad for about 9€ is a real value and quite delicious.
I'm a huge fan of Chez Papa!__When I first came to Paris so many many years ago oh wait come to a screeching halt I was very young and Chez Papa
