What Stéphane Ribeiro doesn't like about La Maree Passy:

Looking for a good sea food restaurant in Paris, we consulted the Michelin guide 2015. It listed La Marée among the top sea food restaurant in the Capital. Having seen dozens of sea food restaurant in Paris with a much larger choice of sea-food, we wondered how the Michelin guide could have picked La Marée. Although it was the full season for scallops they did not appear on the carte! The choice of oysters was very limited. The shrimps were prepared with rughetta and parmigiano, far too strong in taste for a delicate sea food. The red snapers were alright but not great. The decor outmoded. The service was correct but not specially warm.
I read the menu before booking this restaurant and was very excited, until we arrived at the restaurant. We had reserved through The Fork, which is the local Open Table online reservation system. The reservation was confirmed twice, but at the restaurant they didn't find our reservation, that was very frustrating. The restaurant was half empty but they wanted to seat us at a table touching the china cabinet on which the waiting staff prepare their plates and so on. I refused and we were given reluctantly a table 50 cm further, warning us that the restaurant manager would not like it when he arrives. We were stunned to her that.We then ordered our wine. We had some langoustines and cod Accras, which were ok and then a grilled Sea bass, red mullets and a Bouillabaisse. This Bouillabaisse is the worse I ever ate. A simple very thick fish soup with, I believe, a still frozen fish which had been simply poached in the soup a few minutes before. The fish taste was awful and I could not finish the soup. The best part of the evening was our waitress who was absolutely fantastic, efficient, smiling and friendly. I wish the food had been better just for the waitress who did everything she could to keep us happy.I will not go back, as I know tens of better fish restaurants in Paris for a better quality and price. Sorry, just facts.
A lovely fish restaurant at Passy... a good selection of entrees, great soup, fresh fish and nice dessert... well chosen sorts of wine to accompany the menu and some good coffee for the end! Passy has always been my part of town, so I like the location, I like the view, I like the atmosphere... I'll come back definitely!
Warm welcome, nice and cosy atmosphere, great service, exhaustive wine list, fresh and traditional food focused on the seaside. Go there ! I recommend
