Patrons rave about the delightful popovers and attentive service, although some report inconsistencies with food temperature and wait times. The ambiance, once vibrant, appears diminished, with a limited menu and occasional lapses in staffing affecting the overall experience. Despite these drawbacks, the restaurant maintains its appeal as a cherished spot for family gatherings and special occasions, with many returning for the memorable dishes and warm hospitality. Ultimately, Mariposa continues to be a beloved destination, albeit in need of rejuvenation.
The food was excellent, and our server was friendly, though a bit forgetful, requiring us to ask for things multiple times. Despite this, we still plan on returning.
We frequently celebrate our friends' birthdays at Mariposa and it is always a special experience. When my daughters were younger, our tradition was lunch at the North Park Nieman's lunch counter, but now my new tradition is having birthday lunches with friends at Mariposa.
We had a great time at our ladies lunch! We sat at a table for four next to the window. The salads were delicious! We chose Mariposa because they offer popovers and they were amazing! We will definitely be returning soon!
I took my wife to Mariposa for her birthday. It has changed some since our last visit. The menu is reduced, the of folks in the restaurant were minimal, and the feeling we had was that it had lost its ambiance! Ugh...is that a good way to explain it feels like Mariposa has seen better days? The popovers are still outstanding along with the strawberry butter. The only soup is the Chicken Tortilla which wasn 't as good as we remembered it but it was still excellent. The other items we ordered were 'just ok ' (also compared to what we remember). The spice tea is still amazing. The service was great better than great actually. And the prices are still high as you might expect at a NM restaurant. But in all honesty, the luxuriousness of eating at a NM restaurant just wasn 't there. I want to think that taking my wife to Mariposa for her birthday lunch was as memorable as we have experienced in the past. But it was just ok. She liked it so 5 stars but not sure we 'll spend a special occasion there again. The entire NM experience at WillowBend is lacking severely, and it looks like a place on its last legs of living...it 's a shame. Most of the name brands are gone, the racks are sparse, and the salespeople are low to no energy...not the NM I remember for sure. At least the popovers are still great as we remember...
Always a lovely lunch with great food and great service!
