Despite some inconsistency with food quality and service, such as dishes arriving lukewarm and being overly salty, the restaurant has potential with good staff and a diverse menu including shared plates, pizza, and gourmet options. Some diners found their meals to be delicious and well-presented, with highlights like the Meatballs and Sous-Vide Wagyu Rump. The venue also offers a selection of drinks and a relaxed dining experience. Overall, while some diners may have had mixed experiences with food and service, Brokenback Bar remains a viable choice for those seeking a dining destination in the Hunter Valley region.
My partner and I went for dinner at the Mill restaurant on recommendation from our accommodation next door, and it didn't disappoint. The service through the whole night was impeccable and we were very impressed! We opted for the 3 courses and wow what a delight they were. All the food was delicious but I have to say dessert really made the meal! The next morning we had breakfast and could sit taking in the beautiful views over the vineyard opposite. We would go back in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone heading this way.
We loved this place , the food is outstanding , absolutely delicious dishes , well presented , great surroundings and superb and helpful staff , not the cheapest but what you get is worth a visit
Décor was appealing , (log fire burning) Lovely view over vineyard. Canapes very tasty served by friendly staff.
Rating is really 3.5 (Good). Have been here twice now & most recent was for a group get together on a Saturday night. Being a winter's night the open fire was blazing providing sufficient warmth & ambience to enjoy the ales & wines. We also ordered pizzas to eat, which were pretty good. Being a bit further away from the main action means it doesn't get too busy, which is nice. There is indoor & outdoor seating to enjoy the distant views from. It's a good place to relax.
We were a large party attending for dinner and were seated on the verandah area. The area was warm (it became too warm and we asked for the heaters to be turned off) and had pre-ordered our dinner as requested when the booking was made. We ordered too much food even though we had been guided by management. One problem was that all the tapas and the pizzas were sent out at the same time and, as well as the table being overloaded, some of the dishes were cold before we could get to them. No one had any complaints about the actual taste of the food except for the haloumi soldiers which were much too salty. Also strange that the white wine by the glass contained a much smaller amount than the red wine by the glass. One of the waitresses was a little too enthusiastic and was eager to grab plates before people were finished their meals. The group did not linger once we were finished but went back to our accommodation for dessert and coffee. Although it was a pleasant night, I would hesitate about recommending this place for a group booking.
