This was our first visit to the Woodpecker, and we did not know what to expect. We had a wonderful evening! We chose to have dinner on the patio even though it was a little on the cool side. The staff made sure we were comfortable with lighting the heaters and offering us blankets. The food was all well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious. What Paule Robert doesn't like about The Woodpecker Fresh Dining and Lounge:
The savory grilled cheese sandwich was very hard. It was not on bread but a very hard bun (not on bread as expected). The menu did not indicate that. There was only a thin slice of cheese, chicken and apple served on a thick bun which had been grilled. There was too little filling to taste it.There wasn't enough filling for such a thick bun. The restaurant was decent, but we felt forgotten about on a busy Friday night. The food was alright, but nothing outstanding.
To begin with the positives, the décor in this restaurant is stunning. The smooth dining music and atmosphere are lovely as well.
The service at this restaurant is slow and the food is average. Additionally, the wine selection is limited and overpriced.

The main meals were salmon with lavender and honey glaze, hunter chicken, veal scaloppini, and lobster tail. We then finished off our meal with a variety of desserts, Irish whiskey and coffee. The meal was well paced, well presented and well served. We will definitely be back.
Lunch was delicious, great burger and Montreal smoked meat sandwich. Cheese cake was incredible. Looking forward to going back to try the dinner menu. Will be back for sure.
