fresh seafood nice and friendly staff this is a luxury restaurant so is the lookout and the price. I loved the risotto, the garnel and fish were the catch of the day and also delicious. what I didn't like was that they brought the appetizers themselves, but accused us (although the price was ok, it's not right to bring something that appears on the house and then is responsible for it) the olive oil was great so that... Stunning location, friendly, attentive service, fresh fish, however standard of cooking was poor, fish not seasoned or grilled well, tasted steamed rather than grilled although done on the barbecue in front of guests. Side order of garlic rice was not edible as still hard not even al dente), was taken off the bill, however the bill was still enormous at €115 for two people, the fish accounting for €84!!!
What a different a few years and a lot of greed makes... My husband and I loved this restaurant, so much so we wanted to get married there however when we visited in September this year with our family it could not of disappointed more. On a busy friday night, they took more covers then they could manage, with only one english speaking waiter. 5 of our meals did not arrive or arrived incomplete. The food was average at best. The bill came in Portuguese and when I asked the team to read through it to ensure we were not paying for the meals that didn't arrive, they refused. It's a beautiful location and worth visiting for a drink but a terrible shame to see this beautiful spot living off old Michelin stars!
Terrible experience from start to finish, the only positive point being the view which is stunning! We booked the meal to work around our 7 month old baby’s nap time, when we arrived we were informed you cannot bring your buggy to the table, this resulted in us having to hold our crying daughter whilst trying to eat our food. The food wasn’t great, my mother had the sole which was full of bones. She received 3 small pieces of fish which cost €32, our wine that we ordered never arrived. The steak was chewy and over cooked. At one point we asked to move table only to be informed that all the tables were booked which was fair enough, only to discover that ten mins later, the Portuguese family sat next to us asked to be moved and it wasn’t a problem, they were relocated to a different table with no questions asked. I will not hesitate in the slightest to tell people to avoid this overpriced establishment! The view wasn’t worth almost €200 at the end of the day!
I can only welcome this thing very much! make you like one and go to dinner, seriously. (I have been living in portugal for over a year and come from gastfreundschaft management itself, unfortunately I must say that the level of customer service in this country is best on average) the employees at caniço surpassed all expectations! first, they pressed in my last-minute booking (I recommend booking before the time,) and I was greeted with old friends at the best table of arrival as the waiter presented a tablet of seafood options to choose the day, it was so fresh that the lobsters were still alive and moving on the plate. all staff were extremely helpful, friendly and wissowledgable, from the host to the pass waiter and they were constantly checked in after each cursor. my waiter even refused to recommend a wein until he saw what I ordered so he could fit accordingly. I can't even comment on the excellent location and view, just look at the photos, it speaks for itself. I have only some oysters, scarlet prawn (carabineoros) and tiger prawn plus a delicious dessert that was the love child of a black forest cake and pavlowa. a special thanks to antonio and felipe that made the evening unforgettable. I'm sure I'm back and recommend this place to everyone I know. I can't expect to visit again when I'm in the algarve. ps- to address all the negative critikens out there, the algarve is notorious in summer season and I think every restaurant would fight to maintain in these times. be friendly to their waiting staff, everyone tries to be best and I would always recommend to confirm their reservations hotel or restaurant at least one day or two before arrival, this is standard practice in portugal.
