This is the place to avoid in Alvor. It’s the kind of restaurant that can jeopardize a tourism destination. The beautiful ambiance with a stunning view to the beach and sea is the only positive aspect in this place. Customers are all mixed in a small place, with the tables next to each other, it’s almost impossible to seat without disturbing others people chairs. We count 45 clients just in the first floor, where should be only half of the clients. The food isn’t great and is very expensive comparing with other restaurants in the city (80€ for 2kg (they didn’t weigh the fish in front of us) of “pargo”… please) And the service… gosh, definitely they didn’t have a minimum education (besides the foreign guy who serves the wine and is very polite). Too many red flags in this restaurant and definitely a terrible experience.
This restaurant had a lovely relaxed feel to it. And the settling was incredible. The food was good and the catch of the day was shown before we ate, which was a lovely touch. I think there could have been more options of sides dishes with the fish. Staff were very friendly and would definitely recommend pre booking before going. Also get your camera ready the setting is breathtaking.
We ended up in this place as we were looking for a cocktail bar (it is also advertised as such). The settings are absolutely breathtaking, but the setup fails to emit the luxurious vibe it aspires for. Our cocktails were worse than basic, albeit very expensive for Portuguese standards. The worst part was the service,as at first we were told we could stay there only for 10' since they had to prepare for dinner, then took them 20' just to take the order and another 20' to prepare/serve. The servers were polite but untrained and with basic language skills. If it wasn't for the location, it would definitely be a place to avoid.
Terrible experience from start to finish, the only positive point being the view which is stunning! We booked the meal to work around our 7 month old baby’s nap time, when we arrived we were informed you cannot bring your buggy to the table, this resulted in us having to hold our crying daughter whilst trying to eat our food. The food wasn’t great, my mother had the sole which was full of bones. She received 3 small pieces of fish which cost €32, our wine that we ordered never arrived. The steak was chewy and over cooked. At one point we asked to move table only to be informed that all the tables were booked which was fair enough, only to discover that ten mins later, the Portuguese family sat next to us asked to be moved and it wasn’t a problem, they were relocated to a different table with no questions asked. I will not hesitate in the slightest to tell people to avoid this overpriced establishment! The view wasn’t worth almost €200 at the end of the day!
