We dined here with family atmosphere was good, the menu and wine list small. Food was good nice place on a winters day with the fire burning and some comfort food. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Small Holdings:
Called in here on a public holiday for coffee. Place wasn't busy but waited more than 20 minutes for the coffee and it would have been longer but for the waiter wandering past and finally remembering that we had actually ordered and paid. They seemed to be very dis-organised. Having said that, I will come back and try the food as I am hoping this is just a one off. View all feedback.
This restaurant is one of my top three favorite places to eat outside of Melbourne. Winter is the perfect time to visit, and I hope to go there soon. - Stephen
We were warmly greeted by the manager, David, and had a pleasant conversation with some locals. The coffee was fantastic and so inviting that we ended up exploring the town until lunchtime. The gnocchi and risotto were excellent, and we just ordered a cheese plate before heading back to the city. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit and comes highly recommended.
One of the most tasty meals I've had in a long time!! Tried the fennel and green pea risotto and the pumpkin and mushroom gnocchi and both were equally amazing! Definitely worth a visit!
Always reliable, Small Holdings is a fantastic place for a leisurely lunch or dinner with delicious food and a well-curated wine list. David is a wonderful host, supported by Kersley who creates amazing bistro-style dishes. We had the pleasure of trying out David's latest idea of "drinks on the deck" on a Sunday afternoon. We sipped on a refreshing glass of local white wine, indulged in a cheese platter, and listened to talented local musicians playing the perfect summer music. Small Holdings is definitely worth a visit off the Calder Freeway. I highly recommend the lamb shoulder, gnocchi, or cured salmon - it's hard to choose just one!
What a wonderful collection of delicious local treats, amazing hosts and a beautiful building and outdoor area. Absolutely a must if ever in central Victoria! *Extra points for stocking a wine list with most options grown within a couple of kms* thanks guys!
