Bamboo Express - Richmond

We really didn't have the time for a full sit down dinner so we opted for the Bamboo Express while we were already in the Blundell Centre. We have just started to review the menu when the staffer approached us for our order. We requested a few minutes to decide our order. While we attended the counter the phone rang and the staff member answered the phone and while she was still in conversation with the first call a second line rang. After concluding the first call rather than to take our order she proceeded to answer the second telephone call. We simply didn't have the time nor the inspiration to wait for 2 or possibly more calls so we voted with our feet.

My GPS brought me to this restaurant as we were searching for a quick fix. For a small place, food was freshly prepared. Lots of non-Asians going in and out to pick up their orders. Was very happy with our food orders and reasonably priced. And lady at the counter had a big smile and certainly knew her regular patrons.

They do a very good job with take out for larger groups. Make sure you eat when it is delivered and do not wait.

This place has terrible Chinese food The takeout portions are small and food is bland. I get the impression that since its only take out people will accept whats given them once everything is wrapped up for take out and the owner of the restaurant take advantage of that. You usually get better food when the food is present right to your table your sitting at. The previous owners of the restaurant had better food in general. This is more about taking people's money fast and do it with a smile.

We order from Bamboo because you know what you will get. It isn't the best but it is tasty and good value ordering their combo meals. The chicken balls need to have more chicken and less batter though.
