Sanpo is the best Japanese restaurant in NSW. The food is authentic, delicious, and consistently top-notch. The service is friendly and efficient. The quality of the food is on par with the best Japanese restaurants in Japan. I frequently dine there with my children and have also brought many international friends who have all had a great experience. I highly recommend trying the Sashimi Boat and the eggplant steak c... What Tremaine Reichel doesn't like about Sanpo Japanese Restaurant:
Tiny portions that don’t match the price tag! Every dish we ordered was very small. The sushi rolls were teeny for $14 (8 pieces including two scrap ends) and the side of greens incredibly small for $8. View all feedback.
Paid a visit to Sanpo last night with hubby and the bub and had the worst dining experience ever. The manager at the restaurant sent hubby and bub out of the restaurant on a cold windy night just because the bub made some noise whilest I paid a short visit to the lady's room. I asked for plastic cutlery for the bub to avoid any breakages and it was never delivered. Constant greasies came our way whenever the baby picked up a piece of cutlery Our baby is generally quiet well mannered when we dine out and us as parents always try our best to create as little mess as possible (hubby always wipe up any food or mess under the high chair after we finish our meal). Our experience tonight was very upsetting for all of us and I highly recommend against anyone with a child to dine there in the future.
Ordered food for delivery from here through Foodora tonight (7/5) and can honestly say we were blown away with how good it was! We had the tempura prawn roll stick rolls, pork gyoza, seared salmon nigiri and wagyu beef udon - seriously, having eaten LOADS of Japanese food around Sydney (good and bad) I can honestly say this was incredible. We will definitely be visiting the restaurant soon to eat in, thanks for an amazing meal!
I have been going here regularly for over 1 year. The first thing you will notice is the warm welcome from the staff and the attentive service. The restaurant is run by a Japanese couple so it has that intimate and personal feel. It's all the small touches that may dinning here a great experience - you even get a hot towel on arrival to freshen up. The food is always fantastic - the freshest fish (salmon, tuna, kingfish). Highly recommend the Sashimi boat (selection of all of these), hot pot, popcorn chicken, the eggplant steak, seaweed salad. The prawn tempura is the best I've had anywhere. It's BYO, but they have beer, some wine and a huge selection of sake. I have taken well over a dozen different groups of friends and family here and everyone has raved about it (even those who are not generally bog fans of Japanese food). Well worth a visit.
First impression is what's this place doing in the middle of nowhere. From the second you walk inside you feel like you are in a little restaurant in the middle of a Japan. The menu is in English and Japanese and the specials change frequently. All the staff is Japanese and owned by a young Japanese couple. The food is simply astounding the owner goes to the fish market ever day to select the freshest produce for his restaurant. Being a family restaurant he can get small amounts of the best cuts. Some of the top end restaurants in Sydney can't get their hands on Toro and Sea Urchin but they can here. The Carpacio, kingfish collar, nigiri, noodles, wagyu it's all better than good, I can taste the flavours just writing this. I knew about this restaurant for months before I went there, I never believed it could be any where near as good as it is. I now eat there at least twice a week. I walk out feeling great. The Sake list is really good too with high end sake as well as the staples plus of course Japanese beer on tap! I fear someone will walk into this place and set the team up in a high end restaurant of there own. I promise you this place is worth driving across town for.
Sanpo is one of our weekly haunts to eat. We can highly recommend everything on the menu! The staff are fantastic, its quick and reasonably priced. Our favourites are the seared salmon and scallops, soft shell crab, sashimi, prawn tempura rolls and the chilli prawns.Their homemade lemonade is really good on a summers day.
