We received a voucher for dinner at Cafe Legend when we booked an accommodation package at the boathouse resort. The meal at cafe legend was delicious! Lovely well cooked curries, generous proportions, warm service and quiet in front of the fireplace. We ordered Vegetable Khorma...More View all feedback.
We're locals and have driven past this place so many times thinking it was an unassuming cafe. Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and truly warm service. The menu is a bit confusing as it is predominately Indian with some standard Australian dishes such as steak, oysters and a pasta thrown in for good luck!? We all ordered Indian and were very happy with our choices. One disappointment is that we had to bring own our high chair - I guess this is a loud and clear message that young children are discouraged, and we were seated all the way down the back of the restaurant, however all the staff were so friendly towards our young daughter. There are also numerous handwritten signs on the wall stating that children are welcome, but are required to remain seated at all times. All in all, we had a great experience and will be back.
This restaurant tends to fly under the radar as it tends to be frequented by many locals who have grown to enjoy the medium sized menu catering for all tastes. The Specials Board is always worth looking at as well as the range of Indian dishes available, Service by Annie and Allison is 1st Class - friendly and attentive. Although the wine list is not large there is a fine selection of local and Australian wines available.Highly recommended
During a recent stay at Blairgowrie we enjoyed two meals at Café Legend. The first with friends who are regulars there and the return visit with our family as we enjoyed the first so much.Excellent Indian food. The Tandoori chicken was particularly tasty and the mussels were cooked to perfection. The service could be faulted. Annie made us feel most welcome.
Rakesh and the crew work to high standards. The kitchen is spotless, and the food excellent. I've been to India many times, but nothing compares to their samosas.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. It may be a bit too modern and trendy for some, but overall it is a charming spot to grab a drink in South Melbourne.
