What User doesn't like about Le Chevrefeuille Cookery School and Restaurant:
We were both looking forward to this after reading the reviews, but we were so disappointed , the meal started off very well with a cep mushroom and chestnut velouté which was rich but delicious , and then the main course, well we knew it was going to be duck , but the chef had deep fried this and it was so dried out it was almost unedible but he served on a salad of green beans, celery, red currants, carrot,radish,pi... Outstanding course and meal. 7 hours including shopping, creating, and eating. Dordogne specialities.
This cooking and eating day was one of the greatest highlights of our month long stay in the Perigord Region of France. Our Chef was Ian who gave us great inspiration and great cooking knowledge throughout the day. Sara was his ever present assistant who made all things possible in a small kitchen. There were six students total, two of whom were our good friends. The atmosphere was fun and instructive. We literally shopped for, prepped for, and cooked the elements of our five course dinner. It became a masterpiece at the hands of our conductor, Ian. And the big payoff, we got to eat it!! As an experiential based, hands on activity, it was fabulous. Everyone in the group loved it and so will you.
We ate here three times. Each time was a four course meal. From a superb confit duck, roast chicken to the fish on the final visit, everything was cooked beautifully. If we could have eaten here every night, we would have! They even went through the effort of creating a baby friendly version of our dishes so our 23 month old could feel as though he was joining in. When he didn't want to, we could see the play room from the tables so we didn't have to worry. We instead enjoyed conversations with other diners and ourselves without worrying. When we stay there again, we will book the meals!
Perfecte keuken met verse en lokale producten. Er is slechts één menu per avond, geen kaart. Maar uitstekend bereide confit de canard (beste uit de streek !), kip en zalm.
Unfortunately, we did not stay at this breath taking B & B. Next time we are in the area we would stay there for sure. My husband signed us up for a cooking class. We arrived at their home and B & B at 9 am on a Sunday morning. Off to the market we went. We tried samples and picked out the seasonal ingredients that we would prepare and eat that evening for dinner. Ian, the chef, speaks perfect English and is an incredible chef. He is also very patient and seems to love what he does. His wife, Sara, and children joined us at dinner. What a lovely family. When we got home we were delighted to find a nice email and the recipes of the things we had prepared . This experience was the highlight if I had to pick one of our 10 day visit to France.
