Huge portions! Be ready to share with friends, or if you have no friends then be ready for leftovers. The staff is super friendly and the service was impeccable. They took care of us. The prices are more expensive than other places but the portions are very large ! Worth the money! Immediately after being seated you will get a large basket of just made tortilla chips snd salsas, so fire! We went on a Friday around 7... View all feedback.
What Ethan C doesn't like about El Calamar:
This place has gone downhill lately. I really don't want to give them any more chances. I have been a customer for quite some time. Definitely more than 5 years. Every time I go I order the same thing and every single time they cook it differently. I swear to G not one person has made the momias the same way they originally made them back in the day. They are either too dry, not enough cheese not enough sauce, it's a... View all feedback.
One thing I always look forward to is green jalapeno cream salsa. I love her tostada de ceviche this time I have half a dozen oysters. The owners are super nice and attentive. I've come to this place for about 4 years and they've never been disappointed. Although it looks full, there is always a table in my experience. Oh, yeah, lunch specialties are also really good, sure.
Had a fresh Carnitas Tacos with handmade tortilla!! Good!!! Go through a snowstorm in flip-flops to get them so good! Never had a shrimp empanadas and it was loaded with taste and shrimp! You just have to try it yourself! Cant miss with this place
Chips n salsas are great to start. Customer service is great. Had the Enchiladas and Ceviche. The Ceviche could have been better. Enchiladas were tasty. The lime margaritas were super
Came here today with a friend who recommended this spot…… sub par food for 1 $45 meal….at l1st glance you think wow that’s quite a lot of food don’t let the picture fool you the most flavorful thing we got was the tiny portion of salsa with chips . The main reason we came here was for this one item that they charge the most for with 0 flavor and mainly pico for the base…has to be the most American Mexican food I’ve had thus far.. watered down beans….. at least the tortillas were freshly made other than that wouldn’t recommend.
I have been going here for years, and recently the quality of the food has gone downhill, while the prices have increased significantly. There are much better high-end restaurants available at that price point with better food. Being a long time fan of calimar, i'm sad to say good bye.Food: 3/5
