This place is one of my favourites, not just because my wedding was there, but because the food is great, the scenery is awesome, and you don't need to be a golfer to enjoy the club. View all feedback.
What Susie Fahey doesn't like about Saugeen Golf Club Restaurant:
Overdone meat, slow service and undertrained staff. Too bad as the view was wonderful, but of 6 diners 4 were overlooked and one mediocre. Waitress's aid they were understaffed as Friday is not usually busy. Manager was golfing so not available to help out. Poor...priorities! View all feedback.
I had heard some great reviews about the new chef and the Sunset Grill at the golf course, so I decided to try a light weekend dinner. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. The restaurant is very bland, with a beige room and the only decoration being a wall-mounted TV playing the Golf Channel. The view from the windows is nice, but overall the atmosphere is not cozy or welcoming. The menu is limited, offering sandwiches, burgers, wings, and salads at an above-average price range. We ordered wings and the pan-roasted squid and chips. The wings arrived and were underwhelming. When we mentioned this to the server, they were taken back to the kitchen without any comment. They returned burnt and inedible. The pan-roasted squid could have been good, but it was burned on the bottom, giving it a strange taste. The only decent part of the meal was the French fries. When we mentioned the issues with the fish to the server, they simply took the plate back to the kitchen without offering any resolution. It was clear that there was no love put into the food. We paid our bill (which included the burnt fish but not the burnt wings), and left the restaurant disappointed.
I visited the East Brunch in 2017. The staff was fantastic, but I was disappointed with the $26.00 meal. I expected more for that price, like roast beef and shrimp. Instead, the buffet had sushi, toast, poorly cooked bacon, and subpar carving stations. It was overpriced in my opinion. I would suggest trying Walker House instead.
I wouldn't make a special trip to dine at this restaurant, especially if I wasn't already at the golf course, but we had lunch after our game and it really hit the spot. I ordered the clubhouse sandwich and a side salad with mango dressing, and it was delicious. The food was freshly prepared and high quality. I would definitely eat here again, especially after a round of golf!
Large menu for a light snack or meal. good quality and good quality. also every day. a bit out of that when u are not golf, but are worth it.
I participated in a recent tournament held at Saugeen Golf course, and dinner was included. The roast Beef and sides were well presented, well organized and tasted great. There was enough for seconds if you wished. The desserts and coffee nice as the topping of...the great meal. I will be coming back in the future and will keep this Course in mind for upcoming tournaments.
