We really enjoyed the food, drinks, and the staff. However the ambience was ruined by the playing of techno music continuously. The repetitive bass beat pounding in the background was way out of place in our opinion. Headache inducing is what it was reminded us of being in a hotel lounge in Munich and Zurich! Whomever is responsible for music selection needs to forgo their own taste and select something that will hei... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Mission – Old Town Scottsdale:
the guacamole was exceptionally good. the parktacos were only average and too expensive. too expensive for lunch. it is very attractive in the inner, but the lighter are so low it is difficult to see their food. I say go to guacamole and chips and margarita View all feedback.
Great dinner overall our waiting Aaron was friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend
Excellent pork shoulder. Tacos were too small. Overall good
The Mission came highly recommended by several friends and family members, so my husband and I knew it was a must on our trip to Scottsdale. The food was amazingly, the decor and setting are stunning, unfortunately the waitress left a lot to be desired. Food delivery was timely, that was not an issue, however her condescension and disapproval of our selections were both unnecessary and unprofessional. As someone who works in the service industry, it was all I could do not to call a manager. My husband (who rarely finds fault with waitstaff) was disgusted with her but feared making a scene. We were immediately told not to order the guacamole (their specialty, made to order at the table) because they are more than a Mexican restaurant. When we ordered the meal that specifically states on the menu “serves two,” she told us we would still be hungry and needed to order more food. We did not order more and we were plenty full. Overall, the food (guacamole included) was excellent and the ambiance one of a kind and hard to beat, for this reason I would still recommend The Mission. If your wait person starts off in a condescending manner or trying to tell you what you can and can’t order (recommendations are one thing, that’s not what this was) call the manager immediately!
Drinks were watered down, seating was cramped and the menu selection was minimal. I was visiting from out of town and this restaurant was recommended.
The Mission came highly recommend and it did not disappoint! Our first trip to Scottsdale and fantastic experience eating here! Everything was fantastic: guacamole, duck empanadas, halibut and salmon! Drinks were great and service was first class!
