What User doesn't like about Lighthouse Marine Pub:
The service at this restaurant was rude and slow, and the management was poor. The food was of low quality and the supervisor was unresponsive. I am surprised that this restaurant has a 4-star rating. The server did not place the order correctly and the ketchup spilled on my new pants. There were no apologies and they did not offer to clean the mess. The floor was dirty and no one seemed to care until I complained. T... View all feedback.
It starts out with a “why are you here attitude” fortunately we got another waitress who seem to care. The bathrooms were disgusting. Food, bar like. Clearly survive on locals and the summer boat traffic. No reason for me to return considering all of the other places around.
Many of the desired food items were not available and what I did end up getting was mediocre, at best. Other people in my group were quite happy, though, so might have been a fluke. The view over the water was lovely. I might suggest that this is not an ideal place for vegetarians. Staff was friendly.
We wanted a place with good food and some scenery. We were seated at the window. so we got a nice view of the inlet. Food was food, we ordered the Salisbury steak special. it was a very good price. it was very tasty and i would recommend it. service was slow, because they were understaffed. They did not check covid passport or ID at the door. We were allowed to seat ourselves. Felt so old school. they did eventually check our ID. Wish they would have cleaned the table before we sat down.
Food is great, people are friendly and such a beautiful view of the inlet.!!
The senior chefs at the Lighthouse seem to know what they're doing, but the junior ones often miss the mark. Yesterday, I took my wife for a bit of an outing, and ordered chicken wings and the daily special. As usual, the wings were fine, but the daily special, which was said to be chicken cordon bleu with salad and rice, was apparently put on the plate without any thought as to taste or presentation. The cordon bleu had no cheese in it, and was a skinless, dessicated piece of chicken with a small bit of ham stuffed into it, served with some steamed rice topped with a bit of seasoning. Neither the chicken nor the rice had a badly-needed sauce, and when our obliging waitress enquired, she was given a brown beef-type sauce in a bowl for us to spoon onto the rice and chicken. The salad was on the same plate, and the house vinaigrette was fine. Shortly after I had finished the chicken, a more senior chef came on, and I noticed that people who were ordering the special were getting something that looked as it should: There was a light sauce on their chicken and rice, and the salad was served in a separate dish. Thanks to our attentive waitress, some adjustment was made for the inadequacies of the meal, and we left reasonably content. Granted, the Lighthouse has a great view, and (usually) very good service, but the inconsistencies in the kitchen damage the overall reputation of the place, and if they have not already, will one day damage the bottom line and (maybe) force management to consider more carefully who it puts into the kitchen. I'm still burning a little from my one (not ever again) attempt to have breakfast there, when I got a plate full of stuff that had obviously sat around on the hotplate for a couple of hours, and was so dried out that even the egss were rubber. Contrast that with the impeccable cooking at the Village Restaurant downtown, which, though not gourmet, would never serve some of the stuff that comes out of the Lighthouse kitchen poorly-plated, poorly-cooked, and (sometimes) served when it should be sent back immediately. Or contrast it with the fare at the Blackfish Pub, which (apart from overcooked chicken schnitzel) is consistently properly-cooked. I guess the short answer is to know when the experienced, professional kitchen staff are on, and to avoid the Lighthouse when the juniors are at work unsupervised. Maybe they could publish warnings at the entrance!
