the time to go the 5 minutes south of the city is rewarded more than with great food. in any case, they take a meal at one of the expensive places on the river, but if they are tired to pay crazy prices, and want big. food with great service, in a friendly, local restaurant, they will find the clarendon. simply one of the best meals and service we had during a 3 week trip from melbourne, adelaide and hobart. What Lexi Marshall doesn't like about The Clarendon:
Room was great, windows could be opened. Great bathroom, comfy bed. However the room I stayed in they gave me a key because they said the keycard was not working. Next morning I could not open the door to get out and it took half...an hour for the after hours person to come and let me out. Good drinks and food, but looks like it is closed now for sale or renovations? We enjoyed variety of drinks offered for a private party.

Recently re-opened one of South Melbourne's fave's is back again complete with competitive drink specials and simple quality food.
The one thing that always stands out about the Clarendon are their strict rules and strict closing times.
We were in a 2 bedroom apartment in the 2nd floor. what was impressive was that each of the bedrooms had its own ensuite, which is great when they stay with friends. the apartment has two bedrooms and a room with a long bar...with 4 chairs for seating, small fridge, microwave and a water cooker. all in all very reasonable quality accommodation near foot to crowns casino and southbank
