Big R Restaurant - St. John's

We usually eat in but this time decided to take it home. Big mistake, I guess when you take it home they don't care what it looks like. First of all they advertise on having big portions but they forgot to mention that you only get big portions if you eat in. There was hardly anything on the plate. I had a fish and chips which included two small pieces of fish and I mean small. My husband has chicken strips and fries and the chicken shrimps were actually smaller then a nugget and there was only 4 of them. They were so small all we could do was laugh and wonder if that's their chicken strips I would hate to see the size of their nuggets. My fries were good and fresh but my husband must of got some old left overs because his were dried up and very dark. Needless to say we won't be taking out an order from there anymore and it kind of turned me off from eating in also.

Went there on a Friday night after supper rush. The seating is really nice, private and roomy. The staff are very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. The food was delicious and we got big portions.

We had had a very long day and ahalf travel to get to St. John's and this restaurant was just minutes from our B and B. From the outside it did not look like much but inside was really nice with booth seating but wide seating. Our service was friendly and great and the food was great. Nice to have after a long travel. I recoomend it. Prices were great too

Upon arrival, my first impression was of the outdated interior decor. It was lacking in character and resembled a venue for senior citizen gatherings.

I have to agree with the other reviewers. We dined here based on the recommendation of our Scottish taxi driver.
