J Korean Restaurant - St. John's

Was looking for Asian dish first night in St. John's, NL. Came across this restaurant thought to give it a try. It turns one to be one of the best Korean food we have tried in years (we came from Toronto with huge Korean population and a Korean town). Definitely will return if we visit the town again.

I was surprised to even find korean food in St John's! I think that itself gets it some extra points, although I have never had such pricy korean stews. Ordered 2 stews- kimchi stew and soft tofu stew. The kimchi stew had a lot of kimchi but the pork did not provide a great flavour base. The soft tofu soup was a bit bland- the soup serving was larger than usual and the flavour would have been diluted. Side dishes were pleasant. Interesting decor on the inside. First time in my life I've eaten Korean food with Jazz! Its not particularly visible from the street- and perhaps the business could improve if it was (we were the only customers throughout the whole meal)
