Wow treated to a brilliant steak. Great selection of meats and other tasty meals. Good variety of wines. Fantastic service. We were not disappointed. Definitely be back for more. View all feedback.
What Gerda Harris doesn't like about Newmarket Hotel:
Bookings system sucks. Better to just walk in and order over the bar. Service is average for the price of meals. Food is quite enjoyable, try the chicken wings or parma deff a good feed. Great live music sets a nice atmosphere. Happy hour week days worth a look. For what they offer a solid 3/5 not great but not bad. View all feedback.
The Newmarket Hotel can be confusing for those looking to compartmentalise their dining experience.
This was once one of my favorite restaurants in Melbourne.
The milestone about this review is that Newmarket is the first place I dined at during my year living in Melbourne.
After not having visited the Newmarket since October 2015 we were quite disappointed to find that the menu has changed. There is no more of the So Cal Latino inspired menu with its great sharing dishes including the 36 hour slow cooked pork hock with its tamarind glaze. Instead it seems to be a typical kind of pub menu that can be found anywhere. Still loved the atmosphere and the architecture of the place itself and the service was excellent. Our meals were ok but nothing to rave about like the previous menu.
