What Evelin Hahn doesn't like about Ochsen Uhlbach:
If you want the ultimate German experience, including huge help, hearty but boring food and extremely unfriendly service, I can recommend the oxen in Uhlbach. I was particularly impressed when I asked the waitress if she could take a photo of us and she reacted... that she has no time to wait because she's busy.... Really? View all feedback.

The food is large portioned and doesn't disappoint with flavours even after three visits.
This restaurant has been in the family for over 100 years and the sisters who now run it are simply the best hostesses / cooks in Germany. It is a short drive from the center of Stuttgart and is well worth the trip. You must go on an empty stomach because the food is so good.
We had a delightful experience. The food was delicious and the ambience was amazing. We sat outdoors under a giant tree. I ate one of the house specials that was like a dumpling filled with spinach and meat. Superb!
The restaurant is situated in the heart of Uhlbach, it is beautiful to sit in the shade of the big old marple tree ore in the wodden guest room. Family owned and operated for generations, guests are as well local and visitors. The menue offers fine original swabean food on a regular basis but also daily changing seasonal specials. Available is also a big selection of local wines, combined with recommandations of an experienced sommeliere. We love it and bring all our overseas guests.
Despite what the Tripadvisor page says, this was not closed when we visited! We visited most of the places in Uhlbach over a three-day stay and this was the best: delicious Swabian food and wine from the local hills. I had a venison stew with wild garlic spätzle and walnut ice-cream to follow. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed, and there is a friendly cat who came and joined us for a while!
