I've never seen anything like this in my life! I went in with my friend, who is randomly gay, and was completely abused by the bartender and asked to go right away. we thought he was a sweat, but he wasn't in surprise! there were no other customers in the cash at the time and there was a very quiet night, so there was no reason for the bartender to ask us to leave. we have never been treated like that. What Kian Tillman doesn't like about Hotel Hollywood:
We were intrigued by this pub and finally took a trip down there before heading out for dinner. It was not your usual Surry Hills pubs like those on Crown Street. It came across slightly run down but at the same time quite original. It was a tiny water hole inside with retro decor and dated furniture. I presumed it was all done deliberately like that? It wasn't busy when we were there, in fact it felt a bit desert... View all feedback.
I've never experienced anything like it in my life! I walked in with my friend who happens to be gay, and got absolutely abused by the bartender and asked to leave immediately. We assumed he was joking, but to our surprise he wasn't! There were no other customers in the bar at the time and it was a very quiet night, so there was no reason for the bartender to ask us to leave. We have never been treated this way before.

I wouldn't say it was my favorite stuff in sydney, but it was certainly different, according to design or not.
Hollywood without plastic surgery. fun art deco bar with groovy red lighting (and a disco ball, from any background and large (if a little dingy) atmosphere. drinks are a tiny piece on the expensive side, but the free gigs (in the regular low-key acoustic) make it if they like live music with their beer. I like the fact that it has not been renovated into the standard Trinkhügel, which has irrigated the irrigation hole and preserved its history and character, with a large curved Art Deco bar and some old red couches in the back.
