What User doesn't like about Masuya Japanese Seafood Restaurant:
The restaurant was surprisingly casual for a city restaurant. Very noisy lots of families and not really suitable for Saturday night dinning in the city. Won’t go back . Expensive, drinks menu small, Sake too expensive. Food was good. View all feedback.

We were told that we should grab some Japanese food in Sydney, given the freshness of the seafood available. After doing some research on Tripadvisor, we settled on Masuya, which was a great choice in the end!My partner and I shared the Unagi Don (BBQ Eel on Rice) and the Nitsuke Ocean Perch (which is a house special). The former was done competently but the latter was undoubtedly the star of the show. The fish was extremely fresh, and the Nitsuke method of cooking really accentuated the delicate flesh of the fish. The price was also very reasonable given that we had the whole fish to ourselves! We are definitely coming back to Masuya the next time we are in Sydney to sample other options on its extremely varied menu. That is if we are able to restrain ourselves from ordering the Nitsuke Ocean Perch again. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
Great service, quick to deliver meals, the bento box is great value for money. Generous amount of food. I ordered the Kingfish and Salmon Carpaccio which was tasty but overpriced for the serving size. Nice atmosphere. Will certainly be returning.
No reception in the basement. So if you are meeting friends, I suggest you meet them on the street, because once youre downstairs you can't communicate. Be mindful there is the restaurant Masuya and a more casual dining place. This review is for the restaurant downstairsLunch at Masuya (downstairs in the restaurant). Vegetarian friendlyFood: 4.5/5 The food was declicious and tasty with lots of vege variety but there was no 'wow' factorService: fantastic 5/5. Staff were perfectly attentiveAtmosphere: Started off really nice and quiet, but with all of the 'liquid' lunches happening, it got rowdy and very loud towards the end of our lunch. So much so, that you couldn't hold a conversation. That's not the restaurant's fault though, it was the patrons. Just be mindful if you want a place to talk and have conversationsPrice: 4/5 - It really is just a fancy bento box, but you're paying for the atmosphere and the quality of the bento box. From memory my vegetarian bento box cost $24, but it really is a big sized bento and the food you get isn't suitable for a takeaway bento boxGreat options for a high maintenance vegetarian that doesn't like chillies
Downstairs it was a delightful surprise Spacious restaurant so you can speak and be heard Fast service Great food Very reasonably priced for CBD dining
