We were staying at the Train Station Inn and wanted a place to have breakfast on our way out of Tatamagouche. The owner was very nce the food was really awesome! If you want vegetarian food, this is the place to go in Tatamagouche, but they have meat items as well. View all feedback.
I decided to treat my daughter to breakfast out on her birthday and we chose the Caper Cafe. Entering the Cafe is like visiting a favourite relative. You are warmly welcomed and generously fed. We ordered the English Breakfast; homemade toast, hashbrowns, bacon (or sausage), eggs and coffee. DELICIOUS. Be prepared to stay and chat as everything is made fresh and there is no rush. A wonderful way to spend an hour or so.
We stopped in this café for a lunch. I picked it based on tripadvisor’s review and was not disappointed. The food was really good. We were a group of 6 people and had a variety of dishes including, butternut squash soup, beef stew, pasta, breakfast sandwich and ginger pear chicken with rice. The only dish that was kind of unusual was a chicken, due to combination of ginger pear, cranberry, seeds and chicken, but again, it was a personal perception, some other people can love it very much. I guess because we were a group of 6, we waited for a food for about 40 minutes, but that was OK with us as we were not in a hurry. I would strongly recommend this place as the owner and waitress are both very friendly and sociable and the food is good.
Mary provides not only a lovely cafe with many healthy options but also a deck overlooking a "bee friendly" garden, bike rentals, rainy day game options for all ages and a wonderful little gift shop.
What can I say but this place is incredible. My daughter and I wish we had a place like this at home! Mary is welcoming, gracious and kind. Her food is delicious. We stayed at her B & B and got to eat her yummy breakfasts two days in a row. Willing to accommodate, she'll make you just about anything. Not on the menu? No problem! Going to eat at restaurants, there seems to be an increase of places serving a gluttonous amount of food, sacrificing quality for quantity but here things are perfectly proportioned. Mary's hash browns are delicious and my daughter said she makes a perfect bacon. Mary's wildflower garden, commitment to organic and ethical foods are added bonuses as are the bikes, kayaks and pedal buggies that you can rent. One night we returned from a terrible meal in town and Mary brought us out organic carrots, humus, guacamole and drinks once she heard. So kind and over and above! So a place you can stay, eat and enjoy with a wonderful hostess- highly recommend!
See my review of Remember Adventures! I believe that they are the same place as owner Mary Macaulay does a lot of things including making one of the best breakfasts anywhere!
