Again - like last year - a great meal! Food is home-cooked, baking excellent (pies, breads), preserves available for purchase. Busier this time than last fall (and, it was Saturday evening) - buffet looked good (although card on table offered buffet, our "new" waitress did not mention it was available Saturdays).Homey atmosphere - lots of locals. What User dislikes about Quehl's Restaurant & Catering:
This is small town Ontario basic home cooking with two regional specialities, barbecued pig tails and rolled ribs. There is a small salad bar and a small selection of pies for dessert. The main buffet has 10 items which included roast turkey roll, roast beef, breaded shrimp. gravy, carrots, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, stuffing and the aforementioned pork. Just passing through town and needed some lunch. Found this on Yelp. Good food, reasonable prices. Nice little country/family restaurant. I'll be back if I'm in town again! :
After intentionally being ignored by the waitress three times as she walked past without acknowledging me, I decided to go to McDonald's instead.
I visited this restaurant while traveling from Pinery to Toronto. It offers great value, with the most expensive item on the menu priced at $14. Our bill for four people, including tax and tip, came to $68. I ordered a Reuben sandwich, which I would give 5 stars for its taste and quality at a price of $8. I also tried the coconut pie, which I would rate 4 stars - good, but not exceptional. The breakfast meals were also very well-prepared (see pictures). They also offered fried pies, but I did not enjoy them as much, giving them 2.5 stars.
This restaurant is definitely one of the top dining spots in the Kitchener area. There is a wide variety of delicious dishes and all your favorites are on the menu.
We have had 2 meals here of the buffet style. We have also had 3 meals catered for Walters Diner Theatre in the past. On all occasions the food was of good quality. Any food kept hot with a steam table starts to loose its quality over time so it isn't as good as fresh from the kitchen. Having said that the choices, are adequate, quality is good, the service is friendly at a reasonable price point. The desserts though are exceptional they have tarts pies to take home at a good price. If in Tavistock want a god meal don't miss out on this little gem.
